Attributes:
Earth 12+3+1
Wilderness Survival 12
Energy storage - rest
Skills Set
Whirlwind (for the knockdown) (or Crystal Wave)
Aftershock
Armor of Earth
Kinetic Armor
Obsidian Flesh {Elite}
Serpents Quickness
Storm Chaser
Troll Unguent
Summary:
You also need a 20% enchantment staff – Galigords Stone Staff is perfect
The purpose/goal of this build is to farm Ice Imps (though im sure it could be used elsewhere) I’ve really only tried it a few times but it seems to work very well - I wanted a build to resist the imps after constantly being beat down by them, so I came up with this.
The aim is to keep Kinetic Armor and Obsidian Flesh up constantly, the latter being done by Serpents Quickness.
First get your armor up with Kinetic Armor and Armor of Earth then cast Serpents Quickness followed by Obsidian Flesh – once Serpents has nearly ended you cast Obsidian again – when that has almost ran out Serpents has recharged so you cast them both again.
I use Whirlwind and Aftershock when im up close to the imps giving hefty damage and also attack them.
With Kinetic Armor, Armor of Earth and Obsidian Flesh up constantly I have 84+62+20= +166 armor and since they can’t target me they usually attack me for 0-3 damage, which does add up eventually hence the Troll Unguent which you use as needed.
Once Serpents ends you cast Storm Chaser (since both are a stance you can’t use them together), which gives you +4 energy whenever you take elemental damage – and with 10 Ice Imps hitting you your energy is recharged in seconds.
Notes & Concerns:
Timing is critical here as there is very little room for error, and once they start casting your finished.
I’ve used this against 10+ Ice Imps at a time with no problems

So far I'm liking this idea. I understand everything but one thing.
Does it go like the following?
Obsidian Flesh + cast Serepent as your almost done with Obsidian Flesh
blinking...blinking...cast OF again to keep the effect up before Serepents falls out of course (much the way you do with Mist Form)
THEN do you cast Storm Chaser? Let it work long enough untill you need to cast OB+SQ again? Correcto?

yes exactly
although I hit OF and Serpents about the same time
once Serpents finishes you cast Storm Chaser (use it to fill the gap between finish and recharge) depending on the amount of Imps you can recharge full energy in 1 or 2 secs

Ah, very nice. Very nice indeed. I will have to try this out later tonight or tommrow morning.

Nice, good old ice imps, seems like alot of builds can do this. nice to be able to farm with something other then a tank or 55.

But you need permanent Obsidian Flesh, right?
Because once they get a Maelstrom off, especially coupled with a Mind Freeze, it's all over for me ...

Yes. Serpent's Quickness for you :P
Francis Crawford
I guess Obsidian Flesh + Mantra of Resolve would work OK too. Come to think of it, a stance can be put up AFTER the Maelstrom goes off, which is a good thing ...

with Serpent's Quickness and a 20% enchant (Galigords Stone Staff is perfect) it is permanent

Searching on "Permanent Mist Form" no longer turns something useful up on Google for me. Does anybody have links to other discussions of Permanent Obsidian Flesh or something analogous (like Permanent Mist Form)?
Also, it seems like this build is highly dependent on the Ice Imps letting you approach them for a face-to-face conversation. Do they really cluster around you conveniently in Aftershock range?
I'm trying to think of other kinds of high-powered enemy this work work against, and I'm having a failure of imagination. Maybe some of the desert elementalists if they don't bring their Rockshot Devourer friends, but in smaller numbers. Multiple Aftershocks aren't fun even if you AREN'T knocked down first; ditto for Inferno. And on Perdition Rock there's also a lot of Death Nova to deal with, not to mention minions. You'll wind up blasted with a bunch of explosions and poisoned a lot, so at best you'll have to spam Troll Unguent, for further pressure on your energy budget.
Generally, I'm not sure I see how the energy management on that build works, especially without room for Earth Attunement.

Storm Chaser - For 8...18 seconds you move 25% faster, and you gain 1...4 Energy whenever you take elemental damage.
you gain 4 energy each time an imp hits you - it recharges faster than I can use it Francis Crawford
So Storm Chaser is an essential part? Got it.
Thanks! Lord Mendes
so do u use this build to farm Icy dragon swords or just Ice Imps in general?

Wow, really now? You'll have to explain for me and others here, including the poster of this thread I'm sure, how you manage this.

If Aura dosen't cover your health (as Seiges will take health down a tincy, tiny, uber bit at a time) - use Troll Ugent. Francis Crawford
I tried the ice imps near Grotto, and got worn down by the Pinesoul boss despite all the armor. Ugh.
Probably I didn't play it right. Maybe not enough Troll Unguent or something ... Neriandal Freit

Who ever said you had to go up to Mineral Springs? There are alot there too, yes, but there are alot outside of Ice Caves of Sorrow along with Seige Ice Golems.
If you aggro and pull up (over the little hill there) a few golems, you'll continously get energy from the Imps while attacking the Seige Golems (who'll do (with all 3 armors on (Kin, AoE, OF) a max of 2 dmg each, which the Aura of Rest covers easily, if not use Troll). Seiges seem to enjoy dropping Summit related items (tho I've not got anything 'rare' yet from besides a Water Staff and a couple other minor things like that). This build does take time to use and farm. To get the Ice Imps, Seige Golems takes about 15 minutes, sometimes 20. pegasux

Yes mineral springs cause of the IDS...of course you can use it to farm elsewhere like posted earlier in the thread...any farm build can be suited for plenty of other areas that's a given. Just implying I would use it for Mineral Springs for IDS like others probably will and already have. Francis Crawford

Obsidian Flesh doesn't defend against Shock or Aftershock (except in the small AL boost), so this is not the right build for Sand Elementals.
Against Sand Elementals, just pick your favorite high energy build, with self-healing from at least Aura and maybe also Ether Renewal, and outdamage them. That said, I've had OK luck taking them down with a double-energy-glyph build and hence no real self-healing ... oljomo

Hi Jus t alittle modification to this, rather than taking a +20% enchanting staff, take a +20% enchanting sword or axe, and also a -2 damage while enchanted (event better would be (-2-2 and you shoudl take 0 damage almost constantly. EDIT: just tried this pout, here was the result: as you can see you dont even need to have armour of earth up to be takign 0 damage with a -2 shield. + the energy boos storm chaser gives you is phenomanal (but only against enemies whose standard attacks are elemental) oljomo pegasux

Anyone know where one can be found? oljomo
Hi
There si no collectors shield while enchanted, and the while in a stance one is for 5 bleached shells form sonmewhere so is fairly expensive. I picked my -2 while enchanted shield up from gwguru auction for 1k, and it also had +1 to erath magic chance :O oljomo Armageddon
there is one -
Vargil the White Location: In the northwest corner of Mamnoon Lagoon next to Hadasha the Artisan Collecting: 5 Ancient Eyes Crimson Carapace Shield Armor 12 8 Tactics Health +45 (while enchanted) Received damage -2 (while enchanted) I never thought of that ![]() ![]() oljomo
Hi
you need the tactics for the armour boost, not for the mods. And i hadnt thought of not getting a max defense one ^^, (but i prefer my one with +1 to earth magic anyway ) oljomo pegasux
I can't believe how expensive the -2stance -2enchanted shields are. dang 60k is knida steep!
Dallus
Pardon me but is the only place to get a IDS @ Citadel?

For example my gold shield al 16 with -2 enchanted and 20% +1 to earth, also gives me a base armour level increase of 8, whereas your collectors shield will only increase your armour level 3. My advice is, go out and get a gold -2 shield ^_^ (and to the person asking whether you can get an ids with this, you can easily kill ice imps, the problem is more when you try to actually run to the cave ![]() oljomo |
