Yes, without changing anything you SHOULD be on the american server.
You can check quickly by doing the following:
1. log into your account (but don't log into a character)
2. Click the "Edit Account" button
3. Select "Change Territory" and click Next
This will then show you what your current territory is and let you change it if you want to. If you don't just click "Back" and nothing will get changed.
Also if logged into the game as a character you can change the "District" your in - this will say either American or European (or something along those lines) district depending on what Territory your on.
