So I went to the balth islands and went to the little learning center there, and was surprised to learn that Gargash recurve bow isn't a true recurve bow, either that or mine's broke, I have 4 diff green bows, Dragos, Gargash, both Greygore.
I did the following tests for fun: Shot at shortbow target with my greygore short, yep, shortbow range. Shot at recurve target with Gargash...umm why did i just leave the circle by 2 feet.. hmm? Changed to Dragos, backed up into the circle again, sure enough, can hit the recurve target NP. Clicked the longbow target, yep can hit that one too.
So the question is : Do I have a defunct Gargash, or is Gargash not a true recuve bow? If something has already been posted about this sorry =/

Man i used to think the names mattered but i think they dont cause i get items like long sword and its a short sword pic.So its not a defect its just the name if it looks like a short bow it probly is.

Flatbow has the same range as a longbow at 100 feet.
Recurve has the same range as a horn bow and eternal bow at 80 feet.

I noticed that the recurve targets on my known composite Ascalon bows & Eternal bows, and consistently the target is out of range when you stand in the center of the circle.

Yes, it's annoying because you would think that they would put the distance in a proper place for the practice battle isle.

My recommendation - travel to the Battle Isles and go to the training area. There's a bowmaster there that will allow you to test out your bows range, and that will basically tell you what type of bow it is.

Umm, I think that's where he was and what he was doing.

That's exactly what is the problem.
The recurve target is too far away for true recurve bows.
