Warning abt item duper, god and speed hacks
trioptikmal
Some perp was advertising this website in DF. The website came with 3 "hacks" (there's a closed thread somewhere on guildwarsguru as well). A quick scan of the files at (site edited) revealed that the "hacks" were actually a trojan (Backdoor.Win32.MoSucker.bh).
So be aware.
So be aware.

In the end, if someone downloads a hack and gets a virus, they deserved it
trioptikmal
i'm curious though... to enter an account you'd need both the email and the password. Since GW saves the email automatically, the keylogger isn't going to get that, unless a player has 2 accounts. So why do these keyloggers still exist?
Gildor Took
so what's the first thing someone will do after they install a gw hack? Of course they log in to Guildwars.
I assume they get the email address after a while. But the main reason for people wanting to put a keylogger in your computer would be to find your personal information such as credit card numbers.

not encouraging this at all but couldnt you just load gw, load the hack, run anti virus then cheat like a little sod in safety
LoveSporran
I think the point is, the hacks don't hack Guildwars.
They hack your computer!!
Therefore you are living in cloud cookoo if you think that you'll get anybenefit from this.
Item duper etc = false advertising if you like

never go for hacks, scams i mean why play a game to exploit it. it may seem fun having an item or unlimited gold or whatever, but to what end, a virus on your computer, someone stealing your account, banned from A.net <-- in severe cases they give the ban stick.
ahh hackers, how can they live a happy life scamming.

it isnt so much that it could screw the HD it is that they could lose their account as well from a keylogger.
and as far as not typing in your email for your GW account eventually you will enter it somewhere else to register at another site or something else.
the keylogger is patient and maybe 3 months later you enter your email for a separate GW second account or any other website and poof.
that is why you should not use your main email for GW to make it harder.

It's like, despite being told to the contrary, he still wants to believe this stuff works. As if any of these guys would go to the trouble of making an actual working hack and then put in a trojan in it.
led-zep
'he still wants to believe this stuff works' ????? erm no crazy diamond HE doesnt want to believe anything, HE has never even googled a gw hack let alone downloaded one and HE wasnt told it wasnt a working hack so get off your damn high horse
it kinda shows your lack of experience or how naive you are that you think someone wouldnt create a working programme just to hide a trojan
im stunned that there are so many big mouths with lots to say and so little worth saying

Don't see much point in this thread staying open. Nice warning, but it's kinda common sense that said hacks are viruses. :/

Or am I thinking of some other forum?

Your information isn't stored on your machine, it's stored server-side. Any hacks would have to penetrate ANets security levels just to get to your information, then have to break the code to do the hacking. Diablo, for example, stored everything on your own computer which made it relatively easy to at least get to.
Any alleged hacks into GW are simply lies with insidious intent. Be warned, or be hacked.
Consequences... this could lead to identity theft. If someone gets enough of your information to convince others that they're you... imagine the years you'll be spending trying to clean off your credit report and fight off debt collectors for things you never bought. Think of the home you'll never be able to buy. Or the car. Student loans, gone.
This goes way beyond the game. People are trying to screw with your entire life.

it's like wearing a bullet proof armor, it doesn't make you/your computer invincible. if you get shot, it'll still hurt a lot.
and in addition to lossing the GW account, you are also very likely to loss access to your email accounts, bank accounts, credit card accounts and any porn download sites you paid to get access to... ;p

I am however talking about a particular thread I remember which was stickied for the specific purpose of posting scams, exploits, and alleged hacks.

I for one encourage hackers to grab these programs. Anybody who feels they need to hack to play a game deserve to have their accounts stolen and all their characters destroyed. Sorry if I sound bitter but I used to play counterstrike and the sudden onslaught of hackers that showed up at one point ruined the game for me. But after it was revealed that a lot of these hackers had their cd keys stolen because a hacker group called [mygot] installed a registry sniffer into the hacking programs, I just had to laugh. Now that I think about it, I'm glad I stopped playing CS, the game sucks and I dunno why I ever got addicted to it

good memories while it lasted. I remember upgrading my 56k modem from a half-ass win modem to a true hardware modem improved my ping from 250+ms to sub 200 ms (no boardband available in my area yet at that time). I was so happy, haa.
Now I am playing CS:S (half life 2) on and off. not as much hacking. enjoying it for the most part except the AWP problem is worse then CS imo

I was even wary of installing GWFreaks... I can't even begin to imagine the horrors installing a "hack."
Valdaran Longfoot
The beauty of GW is it's near hack-proff design. Your computer gets most of what it uses from them, not from your computer. So unless you go to ANets HQ and start hacking there, 100% of all dupes, hacks, etc are 100% fake.
I did some light hacking in the days of Diablo2 (maphack, minor dupes) but this was years ago. Back then virius' were a problem, but NOTHING like now. Today, downloading is completely different. Its hardly related today as it was then.
Getting "hacks" for games online is like parking in a car durning a gang shootout. You WILL get hit, and no matter how fast you are at deleting it, it WILL hurt.
