How to Farm Ettins
kaze0099
I've seen some people asking about how to farm them. So I thought I would post my way. Personally I just run to the beach from lions arch, but heres what I use to get the job done.
Skillset: Mo/W
Prot spirit
Blessed signet
Breeze (in case bog skales are attacking along with ettins)
Shied of judge
Holy strike
Distracting blow
Mending
Balth spirit
Attributes:
13 Healing
15 smiting
12 prot
5 divine
I just wear regular armor to run through the swamps to get to the beach. It takes one ettin down per SOJ round...at least ive manged that, sometimes I can get 2. Its very helpfull to have a 20% enchanting sword.

I used to use a n/mo to farm ettins. I tried with my monk, but it was just too slow with SoJ with their healing signets. I ran a highly modified low hp build though. I usually found it easier to get dropped off at ascalon village (get someone to zone you to nebo terrance). Heres the build on a n/mo, i imagine its possible to do it with a mo/n at a slower pace.
6 Blood 16 Curses 12 Protection Prayers Prot Spirit Spiteful Spirit Awakening the Blood Desecrate Enchantments Suffering Essence Bond Balts Spirit Watchful Spirit Now, but you got all crazy and say that build is impossible and wont work, let me explain the rest. =p The key is to not run a 55 build, but to have 296hp. I did this with 3 sup runes and 1 major vigor. Weapons have no hp attached to them. Anyways, once you get to nebo terrance, die. Once you rez, die again until you have 60dp. At this point you'll only have 8hp which is more than acceptable to counteract the ettins dmg. Really, you can tank a few with 2 hp, which i did until i got to 60dp. The combo went AtB ~>SS ~> Suffering ~>SS ~> Desecrate enchantments when they're about 60%. If you time it properly their hp will drop low enough to where they'll stop using healing signet. Pick up the loot, find some more ettins. Then die, zone, rinse and repeat. I used to run some soul reaping until i got used to the timing. Most of the time i can get them to drop all at once, but theres usually a straggler or two that are easily finished off with ss. If there is only 1, just pull him to the next set or take your time and work him down. JediWeasel
r u talking about the ettins in NKP ? coz if so i would start at beetlhun like everyone else then port throu by ascalon village and head to the beach but i might be thinking about a diff spot but i doubt it.
try it there are more etins that way and more ettine=more runes ![]() cootsy
Is it possible to get a guide or map on how to get there? i seem to have no idea how to lol:P.
Thanks. TalonTheCat
I second the request for a map!

I used to farm them in the beetletun area until I found out that the ones in NKP drop better. So I just run through beetletun, zone into NKP, go to the beach, circle around and zone into scoundrels rise and then back again in reverse. Since I hit 3 zones, the farm code isnt triggered. In 1 and a half hours yesterday, I ended up with 7 superiors including monk healing/smiting and warrior absorption rune plus 8-9 majors.
I use a pure warrior build with tactics, sword and strength all around 11-12 i.e. only minor runes. For skills, I use doylak, hundred blades, sever artery, silverwing slash, savage slash, distracting blow, heal sig and sprint. When I aggro the ettins, I throw up doylak, hit hundred blades, sever artery on one ettin. When he starts using heal sig - savage slash then silverwing slash. Second heal sig - distracting blow and normal attack. Thats it for the ettin. Switch to the next target. Doylak is great for this because you dont get knocked down and can heal using sig if needed while its up. Niet Nart
nvm, i thought you were talking about the luxon/kurzik settlement ettins

Also not good if you attract some skale or mergoyle in NKP. 16 weapon downs them a lot faster than you'd think, too. VorianVader

I agree with you on that. However I have been careful with all aggroes so never had a problem in that area. Nowadays am on axe build which is triple chop, executioners etc with weapon at 14. Still use Doylak.....not for damage mitigation but for avoiding KD's.
Lady Erighan
The fastest way to farm Gypsie Ettins is with a Elementalist primary. Enjoy...

Is the second skill Burning Speed?
Thanks for the great map! EDIT: Oh, it's Armor of Mist. Same idea, only less painful. ![]() TRicciardi
I use a build similar to Lady Erighan, but pure Ele.
Fire:15 (11+1+3) Water:11 (10+1) ES: Can't remember.. remaining points and a sup rune. Skills: Phoenix Inferno Flame Burst Fireball Rust Armor of Mist Aura of Restoration Mist Form Mist Form -» Rust -» Fireball -» Phoenix (at least one ettin should be using signet by now) -» Flame Burst -» Inferno (if any still alive) can't remember where i picked this build.. Is there a way a MM can farm ettins? I knew they used to be able to but people seem to think that a 10 minion cap is the reason why they can not anymore just means ill have to play a lil more defensively than just standing there and thinking the wave of minions will be enough to keep me out of harms reach...
Whispering Siren
I use my ele primary as well (so much faster than my warrior):
Fire (16) Earth (9 or 10) Energy (the rest) Pheonix Aura of Restoration Ele Attunement Fireball Rodgort's Invocation Meteor Shower (interrupts heal sigs, but not necessary for all fights) Armor of Earth Flame Burst using a staff with 20% enchants helps too Francis Crawford
MM can definitely farm Nebo Terrace, because you start out with a bunch of mergoyles (and often a Level 5 lynx as well).
Indeed, you can keep going and knock off the tengu as well, if you like. For North Kryta Province, unless you can solo one or two tengu just south of the pig, it's probably best to start by running up the beach and killing lynxes and/or mergoyles again, then work south. Surely slower than with the other builds, but probably doable. |
