the "ideal" equipment would be bartok offhand, and a collector 20% recharge wand, people use both bartok offhand and claw, but that is just... i dunno... stupid

Bortak's wand and focus (greens) are the best combo to me. 2x 20% chances for faster death spells, +15 energy, and... oh my... 20% chance for +1 death magic (L19 minions).
An alternative to that would be an Insightful Bone Staff of Death Magic. I have one of these

I dont care about Bortaks, useless to spend loads of cash for thing to make L19 minions, i use 20/20 wand and the +1 DM 20% +30 hp which is cheaper than Bortaks set.

I use Morgriffs Scepter and a Focus from Maguuma Stade with +1 DM on the other hand.

i use a truncheon, +5 energy>50,1/2 casting time for death 20% chance plus the collector idol +27 energy +30 health

I made +500k running Thirsty River with my minion master.
Nothing beats Morgriffs Scepter and the 20/20 death collector offhand.
Fast casting FTW. Lvl 19 minions dont do jack i've discovered, but it's cool to say "i have lvl 19 minions, i am leet."

Collectors Truncheon:10-16 dmg I think,req 8 death,+15 to energy,-1 energy regen. Collectors Grim Cesta:energy+12,halves casting time/recharge of death spells 20%. When I need the energy regen I use either order of blood-elite or switch to a Deadly Cesta:11-22 req 11 death,+5 energy when health is above 50%. And I use Bloodstained Boots(not sure of the stats and can't check since GW is down atm)

I use bartok's claw and the collector's 20/20 grim cesta for my MM. I found this most useful in Sorrow's Furnace or anywhere where other monsters love to steal your corpses. as the combined 20% and 20% faster casting (which is a 36% chance at 1/2 casting time and 4% chance at 1/4 casting time) is very helpful.

I use a collector's staff with the same mods as Morgriff's.
My Morgriff's is also in a weapon slot, because it looks pretty, but I can't think of a practical reason to actually use it.

Oh i wanna buy a +1 DM 20% how much do they usually go for because i would think it would cost a good amount considering that i've never actually gotten one as a drop

It was a while ago, but I bought my 20%DM wrapping for like 20k... that was before MMs became farming essentials tho.
