Runes Re-Usable?

I thought runes could be placed in items, then later salvaged out. Now, I know there is a chance this wont work, but I have tried three times and failed. Is there a chance to get your rune back? What is the chance?

Sounds like you have awful luck. I've salvaged runes out of armor that I've applied them to a couple times. I've also had a few times that I lost that rune. But more times than not, I got it back. Just be sure that you're using the expert salvage kit and not the normal one. Good luck!

Why is it when I try to salvage runes out of my armor, I can't a "you can't salvage that item"?

Did you get the armour off a collector by any chance?

No, just armor I had crafted and then applied a rune to it. I have this issue with some items I have collected along the way, won't let me salvage it, I have to sell it to get rid of it.
