How will you play "Factions?"
Kook~NBK~
I'm looking forward to the release of Factions, but I've been wondering about how I want to play it initially. (I'm talking about the PvE part of the game, here) I'm thinking that there will be a whole boatload of ritualists and assassins being created. Because everyone will be working to unlock the skills in those professions, I see a shortage of low level characters in the original professions.
I'm thinking that I'll use one of my new slots to create an ele or necro (I have made a character with the other 4 as Primaries already) and play the storyline through with that the first time, and then create a ritualist or assasin for "round 2." Of course, what I finally decide will depend on how many character slots comes with the game.
I'm also looking forward to bringing my other characters to Cantha to explore with them, but I don't want to break into the low level areas with level 20's - as that would reduce or eliminate the challenge of those areas.
Just wondering if anyone else has been thinking about how they're going to go about it?

im going to start with my first char , contiue the story with him , its true i want to unlock all skills etc , but i like to see it as my alter ego .. role play , you know ... so after i reach the end game of factions with my first char. maybe ill make a ritualist/ ... about being in low areas with a high level ... lets see how anet deal with that , i dont believe the game will be easy just becose my char is lvl 20 ... im guessing i will need some skills i dont have .. or something like it ..
Vilaptca
Same as Neoteo, break Vilaptca's old rusty bones out of the closet and convince him to go out adventuring some more. Who knows...maybe he'll grab the ritualist secondary along the way.
I'll probably do the same with my Warrior, grabbing the Assassin secondary along the way.
Then...we'll see how many extra slots, if any that we get and I'll go from there, depending on how these two new classes play I may or may not make one of both. Maybe I'll hate Ritualist as much as Monks and not make one...

Rush through it with my endgame character [first character, teh monk]
She'll love it because every group will need a monk to heall the hordes of ass's and rits

I'm looking for an all new experience. I've played the current six primary professions through all or close to all of the Prophecies campaign, so I'm not about to create another one of those when I have two new classes waiting for me. The assassin looks like my kind of character, similar to how I've been playing my ranger. (Causing mass havoc and disruption with traps and interrupts.) So I'll most likely make a primary assassin to play through Factions for the first time -- but no, I don't think she'll be an A/Rt.
So I'm looking forward to playing my new character class through a new storyline, set in new locations. I'd like the experience to be as close to what I got when I played through the Prophecies campaign for the very first time. And that means jumping head first into the unknown.

Yeah I think most people are going to start with their first character tbh, I know I am and im just going to start running places as my first ever character is a W/Me/E. Just so I can get a feel for the game before I start a new character.

what we are saying is , bring your first char to factions , continue the game ...
JoeKnowMo
I'll make a ritualist and an assassin and go through it with both of them at the same time initially. I want to check out the Cantha pre-searing area. Then I'll finish with the character I like better. I'm going to piggyback on those that bring their lvl 20s from Prophecies since I'll be of a lower lever and short on skills unlocked.
I will avoid playing my current characters for some time unless there's a great Green farming area or something of that ilk and it would take too long to get my assassin or ritualist there.

are u talking about the beta weekend or when the game is released?if its the beta then i heard that characters wont be able to travel bewteen tyria and cantha so im gonna imagine theres gonna be only assassin' and ritualists, although i maybe wrong :S
Skuld
making a ritualist, and changing my ranger to R/A, i liked the pre-made pvp build fo that a lot
heavy metal rules
i'll be bringing my w/e and r/mes into factions to get some new armor and see how it goes and gettting a new pet for my ranger, personally i'm curious to see what new pets they will put into factions. then i'll make an assassin.
Pevil Lihatuh
I'll probably run two characters through it at once. First will be my R/Me, just coz she's my main char and always will be, so I'll get her over and start the high level content, whilst at the same time either starting my A/W or Rit/R to experience the low level content too. And then eventually my existing chars will finish the original story and they, along with my second Faction char, will work on Factions. hehe
Gonzo
I'll start with a new char. Since some of the current classes are still new to me, I don't really feel the need for a Assasin or ritualist. I might give monk a go, with a Assa or Ritu seccondary.
monk/assa sounds, weird..

Raxxman
Gonna run my current character through it, then a Monk Rit
BBoy_Manchild
im gonna run a Rt/A solo as far as i can go, then use henchies like i have the last.... 7 months
Witchblade
i probably ll start a new char as an Assassin cauz i found it s funny to play it and i ll keep using my Warrior, who is my main "main Pve Char" i ll complete all quest with it while unlocking assa skills at the same time
i aint much in pvp .. :/

if this is about the beta, u cannot take ur already made characters thru to cantha.u'll have to make a new one as there will be no travel between tyria and cantha

Well. I know for sure i'm deleting my W/mo on the release date. If we get alot more slots, i'll make a ritualist and a mesmer. If we get enough slots, i'll make an assasain along with the ritulist.
Will we be able to bring our guild wars core characters into the factions area and do the missions there ect ect?( on the actual release, not the beta)
Ash.

me neither...
whats the problem? k so then we play with 3 assassins, 3 ritualists who cares?? a ritualist can heal or do massive dmg, an assassin also has different play styles dont see the problems here

I'm playing Factions with a keyboard and mouse.
All joking aside, I'll probally go Assassin then it depends on how many char. slots will be available. As for the beta, definately Assassin...

also (as mentioned by a previous poster), I too am going to be very interested in the pets/petsystems in factions and will be starting off builds for that, (since I wasnt overly using/impressed w/ ch.1's)
/g'day.
Poison Ivy
I'll start a A/Rt for Factions. Rt primary is a bit too ugly for my taste...so I'll go Assassin.
Also (Completly off-topic), Assassin needs to have bigger breasts!

Special K
Initially, I'll be creating an assassin and a ritualist on my second account. I'll take them to the prophecies campaign and power level them with my warrior on my main account. When both are level 20, then I'll go to Factions and do the missions. I think I'll find it easier to explore the new professions and skillsets if I'm not struggling to get by. Also, I'll be learning the new runs with my tank so I can make mad gold. Soooooooooooooooooo many people will want runs.
Vilaptca
I just remembered how much fun I had as a R/Rt in the preview event, so instead of making a Rit primary, I'll probably go along that route, since I deleted my Ranger a few months ago.

Characters from Tyria will not go to the same place as new Canthan characters start, as has been said many times. They will have their own story and missions/quests that meet up with the story in a different way. They're not gonna just drop you in low-level areas with new characters.

This kind of mindset is exactly what's wrong with so much of the GW playerbase.

I just might, I dunno, play the game the way it was meant to be played, not skip through it so I can start farming, like most of the responses thus far say.
Why even buy it if you're just going to run and power-level through it?
Disgusting.

Lol couldnt you include all those 3 posts in one
Im not sure yet, i want to play through it on mesmer or necro, but monks will be needed most i guess.
Might try and get all of them through within a reasonable timezone.

I'm gonna fight (read: FIGHT) through the game as my main ranger then i'l make a Ritualist/Monk and get him through the new storyline... praying to balthazar i finish the cantha storyline before runners take over the expansion like they did in the current guild wars
Brother Doug
Personally, I don't understand why people would be using their level 20 characters for the newer version of the game, at least not until they've done it with a new character first. I think that it would completely take the challenge out of most of the beginning of the game, and I'd like to see what happens with the story, especially depending on in-game factions, with a newer character. (I'll probably be going Ritualist.)
Edit: Grimm, where'd you hear this information? I'd still play through with a pure Factions-campaign character first, but if your info is true, I'd like to see how my Prophecies monk would fit into the Factions storyline.

I'll always be looking for the third option.
EternalTempest
Going to take my 1st and favorite character since the game launced in to new adventures in Cantha from the C1 perspective of adventure in to new lands. If I create and assassin or ritualist then I will start "new" from within C2.
I put a some (not too much to be considered rpg) background / personality for each of my characters and treat them like I would rpg chracters (pen and paper).
I will take my time slowly and join "explore" no objective parties for as long as they exist like when gw 1st came out if anyone still remembers them and take my time to smell the jade flowers.

Hopefully I'll have enough character slots combined between Prophecies and Factions to create one of each primary profession and continue playing Guild Wars the moderate paced see/do as much as possible way that I've been playing Prophecies all along this time able to explore old areas with new characters and new areas with both old and new characters.
