observe mode for PVE ( Tomb Of Primeval Kings )
neoteo
i would like to see tomb of primeval kings broadcast like we have for pvp now , my idea was for the first 5 or 10 teams that made it from the start to the end in less time.
one of the reasons i had this idea was becose i see people spaming , experience barrage pet group ends in 45 minutes ... ??? my minium master is ready for that , but i have only been in crapy groups so far , all died in the first 5 minutes inside ... best i made with my fire ele nuker was 1:45 - 2:00 ..in a 1 w 2 necros 2 healer 2 eles 1 ranger.
i would watch a 45 minute PVE run. expecialy a 5 ranger group with pets , hehe
EDIT : if you dont like pve , thats not the point of this thread , thank you

I agree. But would like to see it extended to the other high level areas as well.
The 3 shortest times for UW, FoW, and SF quests for example.

You think people will watch PvE?
fallot
I cant think of anything that would be more boring. Aggro, Kill, Regen, Repeat... No thanks.

as i said only the best teams would go to observe mode .. not the agro unorganized ones ...
those teams that complete tombs in 45 minutes , i want to see it to believe it.
guild or leader name would be in observe mode list , i think most pve players would love that kind of fame.
i know its not a race , but time can tell how organized the team is .
there is no ladder for pve , a observe mode would be nice.
uw , fissure and such quests are hard to trace and to count ... i think this is only possible in tomb.

Maybe someone can make a video that has the same effect. I don't think Anet would put in a PVE observe feature just for what basically is high end farming.

why not ? if its hard enoph to make people watch.
i dont want to see a 55 monk in the desert , i want to see 8 people team cleaning hoh in 45 minutes.

Because watching people pull monsters for hours on end would make for quality entertainment.

I guess it would be similar to the gvgs and HoH battles.
you observe to "learn" strats. why not.
They are already doing this to gvgs/hoh, where they root out battles and not show every single one of them anyways. (they already have a system for this probably)
So, it would be nice, but only for specific special pve areas w/ a full team ofcourse. (UW/FOW/new tombs/new mishes in factions kingofthehill/ etc.)
wouldnt mind watching something new.
(also, IMO some of the observer matches showed werent all that exciting sometimes.)

I guess we would all like to have audiences when doing mundane, unchallenging things, but.... no.
lishi
i think they will be some technical probrem.
you wont know if a team will be able to be on tv until they end the performance and probably memorizing ever party in tomb will encounter some technical issue. plus it will be boring

Considering the number of people that ask to watch Racthoh's spider and smite runs (as solo warrior) the idea isn't without promise.
But there is too small of an audience to justify such an addition at this point in time.

No offense, but many of the GvGs end up being snoozefests. Most of the builds and strategies are pretty old by now. Pick target, spike, target runs around, switch target, spike, target runs around, rinse, wash, repeat. Ummm, wake me up when it's over.
The PvE battles that would get listed would be based on fastest time. Don't you think that would give teams an incentive to reduce their run times? The fastest team in tombs might be more interesting than some of the GvG battles. And it would give the PvEers something to shoot for.
Maybe GW could start with just listing the 10 shortest times for each quest in different high-level areas. And then if there's enough interest they could consider the observe mode.

If you don't find something interesting in a GvG match between two top guilds, you are either already in a top build or you are a scrub and you have little idea about what's really going on.

PvE Players watching PvP players play in GvG and HoH are generally confused about strategies and such. PvP players dont find watching pvp battles because they learn new stuff and strategies to improve there PvP game play. Whereas PvE players watch PvP for fun and giggles imo. Well, I think it will be realli hard to set up such a PvE observor mode because they have to basically record all the pve tombs run in order to do this cuz u dont know the outcome or the elapsed time finished until the very end.
Orbberius
I think the big problem with a PvE observer mode is that PvE is all about exploiting the weaknesses in AI. The monsters bring the same skills and do the same things each time. So PvE isn't really a competition between two fairly equal groups, it's just a matter of 'how long will it take to find the best AI exploit to clear this area'. Then it's a matter of finding out how to shave some seconds off the time. Not particularly interesting, IMHO.
It might be worth watching the first time around, and so a recorded video could be interesting, but again and again? Not really. A simple list of fastest times could serve the purpose, but an observer mode would be completely over-kill.
Oh, and even a PvP newb can find interesting things to learn from a top GvG match, if they're paying attention. A scrub, on the other hand, will spend the entire time going 'hmm wow how boring I'm gonna go farm now'.

About GvG matches: I'm into PvP build creation. As annoying as IWAY was I have to admit it was a smart idea. I do enjoy a lot of the smart teams that play with interesting builds. However, of the several matches that I watch each day about 50% or more are semi-interesting. Not so much because I don't understand the builds or the team concept of using builds that support each other, but because the variety/originality seems to be dwindling.
By no means am I a know-it-all. I still learn a great deal from watching some good teams. But I find that the more you watch, the less you learn over time. Anyway, I was wrong, PvP observer mode would be far more interesting than PvE observer mode. However, even PvP observer mode can get boring at times, some of you will admit.
Kago Seirei
Honestly, I don't like this idea. PvE is better experienced and learned through interaction and trying to do it alone rather than watching. Also, if its boring during the events such as FoW and stuff, how much more boring would you think it would be to watch it!? D:<
SpeedyKQ
I think this is a great idea. I would love to be able to learn more about how effective PVE groups take on the difficult areas. As with PVP, many players get scared away from high-end PVE because snobbish players will insult you while you are trying to learn.
No, I wouldn't want to grab a tub of popcorn and watch one tomb run after another. But as a learning tool rather than a form of entertainment, this would be great. Might help the quality of PUG's too.

The thing is that PvE on observermode means that a succesfull farming build will be copied (which will happen anyway). That isn't a problem, but the excitement level of watching PvE on observermode will skyrocket downhill because everyone will know the succesfull build quick.
So how long will this be exciting?

Then we have the problem of deciding who to watch: 4 L20's killing charr at the great northern wall, the 31789513796749th barrage+pet team in tombs, or a solo guy at ettins?
Part of the fun is build creation, and in pve you are more or less free to bring whatever reasonable build you want.

I'de pay to watch a guy doing a run to Droknar's Forge before I would watch a Barrage Ranger group doing an Tombs. (I usually do Orders in Barrage groups, it usually takes 30 minutes. Its not 'all star' to do a 45 minute run)
Racthoh
Thing is, the PvP observer mode got boring for me fast.
Oh look... another axe warrior/ele with gale. Another crippling shot ranger... another ether prodigy ele... another blood/curse necro... another mesmer covering Arcane Conundrum with Conjure Phantasm. Oh a ranger spike team... time to watch the monk save the day with Infuse Health for 15 minutes. Unless it's like an under rank 10 match, it's just the same build using the same strategy. I know of one or two guilds who are actually interesting or watch, otherwise I just don't even bother checking the matches anymore.
At least with a PvE observer mode some different builds would actually be watched. The only problem would be what gets observed. Time? Well 8 people are going to destroy an area pretty quickly (at least they should). Small groups? Ugh... Protective Spirit... Spiteful Spirit... Cyclone Axe... and it's not like there is any method currently in PvE that would promote someone to having the priority of being watched. If a guild group was doing something, prehaps then; just not random PUGs who are going to fail anyway. Although, I would like the option to watch people fail since all of those horror stories of PUGs do make me laugh. People with a high exp total? Well, again it would just be farmers since they gain it the fastest.
Another problem... what do you observe? Obviously you want high end areas that are challenging so people would want to watch them. FoW and UW are limited to favor, not to mention the abundance of farming and chest run groups. ToPK would be larger groups, and more than likely guild groups or "experienced" players attempting smaller sized groups. So being able to watch those smaller groups would be probably fetch some entertainment. So you'd get the odd guild group here and there doing something interesting? That sounds like it could be fun, watch PvE pros at their best.

Here's my take, and I think it would be ok for pure random entertainment.
In any mission area, you bring up the menu, and you get to watch the last 2 or 3 attempts at that mission, successful, failed, or otherwise. Oh man, personally, I could sit at Thunderhead and observe that folly all day, every day. You could learn what to do, what not to do, or just get a very good laugh at the Mending warriors, Monks without rez, tanking Elementals, etc... You'd also know who NOT to invite to your PUG when you try the mission yourself, since the same folks you just watched will most surely be spamming "Experienced *.* LFG" seconds after you watch them embarrass the human race.

if this is so easy to clean , i ask anet , please make something 10 times harder then this to shut up all the elite pvp #%@#@$%^ players

Sounds very boring, IMO. Farming is boring to do, much less watch. It's very repetitive.
