Can You Play GW While Internet Connection Down?

Ok somewhat of a goofy question here, but lets say I load GW on my laptop so I can play when I travel. Do I need to be actually connected to GW's servers to play the game or can I log-in to play and play locally unconnected to the Internet then later connect to the Internet and have my progress be updated? I am guessing the answer is no, but I figured I would ask since I wanted to be able to play on long flights and what not.

No, you cannt play GW while you do not have an active internet connection.
