1v1 Arena with Henchmen

Now i know that the suggestion for 1v1 arena has been made many, many times but there was always the issue of game balance. given that the game is not designed for 1 vs 1 combat, it is likely that it will result in a stalemate.

the next best thing then, is to have a 1v1 arena where each side selects 3 henchmen. it then becomes a 4v4 battle which guild wars is designed for but the important thing is that credit for winning goes solely to you. you're also guaranteed to have a balanced team because you choose your own henchmen and not end up with 4 monks. i'm curious to know what other players think.. and what A.net thinks as well(if a rep does happen to read this)..

That seems like a good idea-how ever, a 1v1 arena would stink. W/mo galore, even more than in the level 10 arena ^^

hehe I don't see problems with a 1v1 arena, with henchemen of course

anyone who thinks that W/Mos own in 1v1 combat hasn't fully explored the other professions... i'm kinda sick of hearing how all these noobs think that W/Mos = pwnage that personally i can't wait for a 1v1 arena to prove them wrong..

I wouldn't mind seeing a 1 vs 1 arena, of course there would be NO balance at all, but who really cares? It is not like this 1 vs 1 jazz would be for any ranks, material goods, etc.... just for fun.

Wandering my own road.

There are a LOT of things to try, and skill combos to do, and formulas to, well, formulate, hidden caps to find, etc. etc.

Try going to the arena and asking, "How much did _____ hit you for?" or "How ____ would you say my ____ spell has made you?"

Not going to happen.

There're so many hidden things to learn, numbers that don't show up on your own screen, that your enemy certainly isn't going to tell you, that people should know.

Why should people spend a long time stacking hexes such as degeneration, speed debuffs, casting speed debuffs, etc. only to find out later that there's a cap the game didn't tell you about?

There're just so many things you can't test in the tombs or random arena battles, and unless you happen to be really close with another guild, there's no controlled arena to find out the answers you want to know in.

I could care less for a random 1 vs 1 arena, but at least the ability to 1 on 1 duel guildmates would be HIGHLY desirable. Test concepts, spar with your guildmates for fun, and it'd be a great place to implement "observation" mode to first, where fellow guildmates can gather and watch the battle.

no one has really commented about the henchmen part... i'd like to bring my fav henchmen and see how they stack up against real players...

the pros:

credit for the win goes to you(also the shame of losing..)

you get to choose your own team..

since henchmen are made equally, opposing teams will be more balanced..

you don't have to call targets and have ppl not listen to you.. henchmen will hit your target automatically...

their should be an area where you can train against henchmen or guild members in 1 on 1 battles

ITS NOT ABOUT BALANCE... its about warriors fighting with warriors
and experiencing the battle without the monk/necro support

these guys need to have their own pvp... because when we form a team with nub warriors its usually an ass spanking

they are all armored up and ready to go... but they cannot deal any dmg due to their adrenaline being too slow, not enough special weapons or runes equipped that give them bonuses, etc

thus they quickly get spanked by their counterpart - the elite warrior on the other team

((BTW i personally think that warrior is the most staple, effective and yet hardest/slowest profession to master))

if warriors fought warriors one on one for days and helped eachother out with suggestions after the fight or something... (of course the occasional n00b laugh will make that player never want to play as a warrior again) then the general skill lvl of pug matches will increase dramatically

pvp 1v1 for warriors is a must!!!!

and i'm sure elemesmers would want to try their quick casting too!

I'm with you on that, I at first didn't really care if they ever had a 1vs1 arena, but after all the "Rangers Suck" threads, I'd sure love to test my Ranger against some of those people.

Well, i like this idea, but meh... i would own, you'd all lose, and we'd call it done.

On the other hand, i would like the idea of 1v1 for guild halls... i would really like to know what my Armor is doing, in terms of changing dmg and such... i would also like to know some other things... but hmm, maybe that's the reason why they dont have it? People figure out too many things, and a certain class might get overused... even tho class spells dont stack with the same class, which is why a perfect guild will either have more elementalists or just have a complete varity, with of course... spells that compliment eachother.

Edit:: Warrior the hardest? What kind of drugs.... err...
