I'm not talking about the number of drops but how they're allocatted as the current system is patently unfair and does not appear truely random, otherwise tjhe law of averages would come into play, yet I consistantly see the same people getting numerous drops and others few/nothing - the current system also penalises those that play the game as intended in groups and encourages solo farming.
Just a few examples:
Saturday: 8 of us did every quest in the Fissure of Woe which took 6 hours, 3 got 1 shard each the rest 5 or 6 each.
Today: 4 hour trip doing Forgemaster Quests saw 21 shards drop and again 2 got 0, and 2 1 each with the rest 5-6 then anoither 3.5 hour trip tonight which again saw 2 get 0 shards a couple get 2-3 and some 5-6.
Now out of that lot - 3 trips spanning 14 hours and 54 shards I'd expect that it'd even out roughly, but no, I got 1 on Saturday and 0 today. My characters weren't flagged as I hadn't been farming - 1 has just been helping guildies in missions, the other is on a new 2nd account with less than 100 hours play.
I've had similar experiences with ecto in the UW - I've had 14 drop in 7 month's playing (a usual UW trip gets to the spawning pools at least) and my Ranger has never had an ecto drop period even though lots of UW trips (enough to help get to 1.7m XP). Ecto are dropping, but as with Shards, they always seem to be allocatted to the same players who regularly get 2-6 a trip each (something also noticable in UW Tombs - same people get best greens consistantly, others sod all - my record is 14 clearances, and 6 greens with only a bow and sword any good, and 8 trips with nothing at the end).
All I ask for is a fairer drop system - I don't give a monkey's about the value of shards/ectos and if it drops in price as I want to save it for getting armour (and don't give me any crap about 'earning' it - I think doing numerous UW/FoW quests in a party totalling a good 1000 hours+ is doing more to earn it than solo farming, as not only am I playing the game as designed, in a lot of trips new players are taken along to show them the areas) not get rich and milk the none-farmers of gold.
Please ANET - lets have a fair drop allocation system

when you have done 1000 runs to give the averages time to kick in give us a better report.

It is kind of strange though how long it take you to earn up 10K in faction as to that gold and how long it can take you to unlock weapon upgrades thru PvP as a opposed to PvE.This happes to me to and who knows how much the henchies get if you use them.

I'm just saying at the end of the run, everyone should have gotten within 1 or 2 *total* drops as everyone else. This is not uncommon in RPG's. Random is really quite stupid. I don't see any logical reason for it, and feel it discourages team play. Gold is shared between party members.. why not drops? Instead of trying to be cute and witty how about you tell me why it's a good idea?
