Question on swords and upgrades.

I understand that a sword can be upgraded with 2 kinds of things; pommel and hilt. I also understand that once a sword is upgraded with a pommel/hilt you can still 'upgrade' it with another pommel/hilt, but the previous upgrade will be lost. What I don't understand though is if swords without pommel/hilt can have any bonusses on them? And if they can, what kind of bonusses are there for swords? Thanks a bunch in forward!

The sword bonuses that arent from a hilt or pommel are like +1-20%(15% is max for some) damage when health is over 50%, under50%, in a stance, enchanted, hexed.
