I got totally beaten by a pair of Rangers in PvP
romeo_longsword
THe match totally opened up my perspective.
A pair of rangers who worked together, I can only remember one of their names, "Assassin Sharpshooter" Or somthing of that sort.
Between the two rangers, they have FW, and did not, like me, run around and find advantaged position, they both stood there like a pair of cannons, shooting away, even later one, when one of them fought 1vs1 agaiinest a warrior, he was able to produce enough damage to threaten the warrior away.
The shots I have seen from the Assassin Sharpshooter are:
Barrage!
Hunter Shot
Power Shot
Distract
Savage?
So this guy has a lot of damage giving shot, and the other one:
Duel shot
Kindle
Punishing shot
Savage?
All of the above could be swaping between them, but together, they were so powerful, now I have a few questions.
1) They were shooting extreamly fast, beside the advantage of FW, they were shooting punishing shot right after with savage, even when I was not planing to do anything, is this a know method? Why?
2) They stood there and out do the warrior's damage, thats somthing I have not seen before, in what asspect of the character design can make a ranger produce such damage using only the skills I have seen.
Overall, I really enjoyed it, I usually watch how rangers play in thouse GvG, but this is indeed, very very good play.

1. Dual+Punishing+savage is the standard ranger spike attack chain.
2. Whether rangers outdo warriors is debatable. [Rangers] They probably have the most dangerous spike in the game, though.
Those two builds could use a lot of work, too
Kindle? Power Shot? I haven't seen them run in a long time.

Was this in Arena or GvG?
In arena even I have solo'd warrs using a slightly modified Fireslinger build (Conjure + Kindle + Vamp string + Dual Shot) = loads*of*big*numbers
But if this was in GvG, maybe they were using a backup runner to hold the flag? Crip shot build is all you need in ths case (or "gg" as they say).

I've solo-ed warriors with my crap poison/degen build. Blind+degen and they're mincemeat.

It was a team arena, 4vs4.

What other skills would go with a spiker using this chain in your view?
NightOwl
The best skills to go with those three are skills run by a necro party member. Order of Pain and Order of Vamp.
However, if just for yourself, there is so much variety that you can tune the rest for your groups' needs. I personally enjoy getting some Inspiration going to help fuel my spikes. Inspired Hex is a nice one. Leech Sig can work. Sig of Weariness if you just want to work the opposing energy a little bit while you regen. Just too many options to list. Bring those 3 for the spike itself, and tailor the rest as needed for the team.

On the subject of them shooting really fast: if they had FW down, then I wouldn't be surprised if they were also using Flat Bows and possibly Tiger's Fury. For a ranger, very little can beat the attack rate of FW/RTW + Flatbow + Tiger's Fury. I say very little, because there's always Quickshot....

Yeah, FW+RtW+Quickshot= 6x faster. I can be at 7x max with called shot. You put in Tiger fury and this can be insane, for few seconds, how fast an arrow can reach the target.
Beat_Go_Stick
Does an arrow travelling faster make it do more damage or up your rate of fire? I don't really see the point in making an arrow travel so fast....

Quick shot does NOT make an arrow travel faster, simply the attack itself is faster. If you pay attention you'll see most of the bow attacks occur at a set rate even though the skill itself doesn't list a length of time for the skill. Quickshot and the various interrupts have a higher rate of fire, meaning instead of it taking 1 second from activating the skill to arrow leaving the bow, quickshot, etc take .5 of a second. The arrow does not travel any faster than any other arrow.

With FW and RtW on, they give you some bonus on your attacks. Tiger Fury is used to make your attack rate 33% faster. For some reason. When your on a hill (Example shiverpeak PVP arena) With a bow, you can reach farther when the enemy is in low lvl, more dmg and greater chance to make Critical hit (I dont know why some players haven't seen this?). The problem with that is the target can do a side step and you miss your hit. With FW and RtW, you have greater chance to hit them because your arrows travel really fast (almost an instant with quickshot and called shot).

I heard they had, saw some screen shots that suggested this was the case, but I don't remember seeing anything official in the game updates.

when you say they had are they now stackable? I'm a bit of Ranger noob yet and can't remember if these were not stackable before. Arturo02
the problem has been that FW and RTW only stack if you drop RTW first, then FW. Would be great if it was fixed.
Arturo02
forgot to add before to the OP....glad to see you are starting to see a ranger can do more then you thought they could
