Armor

Who doesn't like the armor system in GW. I would like it if say you killed a moster and it would drop armor that would have stats and things like that you could pick it up adn equip it like most other games do. I really dislike the fact that the only armor you can get you have to buy and have the crafting matreials. I think that this would be a big upgrade in the game.

Seems better to me. Charr armor, or centaur, or dwarf, would logically NOT FIT a human. Ever try to fit into a well made suit that's three sizes too small?
Soul Shaker
No, it wouldn't be a big or useful upgrade.
Ok, take it like this, if you tried to fit into armour that was too big for you, you would logically have trouble moving in it, and heavy blows (such as those from hammers and large monsters) would knock you down on every hit, since the armour is so loose. (weapon hits armour, armour moves, you go down with it)
Historically accurate.
And if you want a little experiment, go find clothes about 10 sizes to big or small for you and see how you feel.
Metal is just a little more drastic than cloth.

It would be cool to have unique armor pieces that do not have full sets and are dropped randomly but I can see why you couldn't wear the armors.
Lampshade
Yeaaah, go try wearing the armor of a Charr. The only possible armor you *might* be able to wear is Krytan armor, and it will be loose then. Historiclly, you had to go to an armorer, basicly a tailor, who would measure you up and make a suit to fit you exactly.
Daena
Now if the Shadows in FoW would start dropping their armor.. I wouldn't mind that pitchblack armor.. and they look kinda human dont they?
Ethelon
Hmmm. Would it be an idea to get it fitted by a crafter for your character. As a work-aruond I mean?
Nevin
The armor wouldn't be "Charr" or "Dwarf" armor, it'd be random drops.. Just with special stats..The armor drops would be bellow or max of the territory you're in. In other words you wouldn't be finding max armor being dropped in Ascalon
Heres an idea..
White armor - No special benefit
Blue armor - Low grade modifications
Purple - High grade modifications
Gold - Near max modifications
Green - Max modifications
It'd be like weapons, some have bonus towards plants, some give energy, some give more armor.. (This would obviously be strained for PvE, except some of the "elite" armor drops would probably be versatile)
But this'd screw up the balancing of GW.. ALL mmorpg's have this kind of system, and in an typical MMO there are no "perfect" mods, sometimes I wish GW took that stuff into consideration.

k, outside my life on GW, I am a medieval re-enactor (see avatar) and have spent a good chunk of the last 13 years wearing plate armour.
For a reality point, it is pure luck if an individual piece made for someone else will fit you. A lot of people do wear armour that was not made for them (probably the majority) and they muddle through. It is only when you wear custom armour from a good maker that you realsie how much better it ought to be.
The worst case scenario is that a piece of armour seems to fit, you start fighting and then realise that your supposedly protective equipment is actually injuring you. Happens quite often, as standing about in armour is very different than athletically trying to defend yourself.
This is all based on humans wearing armour made for other humans. Take something made for another species and you would most likely end up just taking the whole thing apart to use the metal. Much like using a salvage kit really

i suppose thoguh other armour would be logical such as the priest of balthazars armour if you could get him to craft you that sexy horn helm he has! or mantle armour surely that will fit anyone
its shown on some pages of the guild wars manuscripts but you an never obtain it whihc is disapointing

Looks to much like Diablo 2E to me. The armor system works well.
