Let's first try repairing your game files. This may take a while, so consider trying this before bed one night.
Open your Guild Wars folder (usually c:\program files\guild wars).
Delete the gw.dat file. I didn't delete the file, I just renamed it to Gw.dat.old, just in case something bad happend
Then launch the game again, and allow the updater to download new game files.
You may see a lightning bolt at the login screen. This is a download indicator. Let the game client sit at the login screen until the lightning bolt goes away.
Once finished, try playing again. Let us know if your situation improves.

i tried this awhile ago, didnt take long 2 download all the updates since i run on high Meg broadband, but imagine the unfortunates who got like 1meg OR even dial up gonna b there for years
