Video Sequences
nomed
Alright I have to vent my anger about retarded people.
I only play this game for three weeks now and I don't have time to get to know every party member before a mission so it's impossible to tell if you got intellectually disadvantaged members with you and I don't want to bother my friend list with every mission.
I am doing this one mission the fifth time now, because people are too stupid to skip the video sequence when they see their party getting killed in it (by the mobs THEY have aggro'ed in the first place).
By now ArenaNet should know that many of their customers aren't the brightest stars out there. Let's face it, online games are often a meeting place of people who's intelligence is obviously far under average and they should find a work-around for this problem.
It's not right that the mission fails because of one or two stuck-ups not skipping the video sequences. If 50% or more wanna skip the video, then it should be skipped.

What Missions is this?

Ice Caves of Sorrow. You would think that people who made it that far are used to the game mechanics, but every time I get disappointed again.
One of the earlier missions should be an IQ test And if one fails (like less than 90) they should be sent and locked to retard island.
A small isle with only one mission and one quest, just the monsters change colors so they don't notice that they are doing the same stuff over and over again.

Being so intellectually superior as you seem to be, have you ever once thought that maybe the people not skipping the video haven't gotten a chance to watch it before? Some of the people like to follow the storyline and listen and watch each movie from start to end. Just because you've already seen it dosen't mean the others should have to skip it as well. Quit thinking about yourself for once.

I see this happen often too, but then in the iron mines of moladune mission. When you finally reach the seer there can be some mobs following you

C'mon, you can do better than that. ArenaNet could make all the movies from completed missions accessible via the options menu. That would be a start and I don't think it would be hard to do.

I agree it's not very fair to blame other players for a game design oversight. Just because many people might be replaying through missions doesn't automatically mean everyone else is too hence a big NO to forcing a skip of the movie - why should those who've not seen it before miss out?
A far more sensible suggestion would be for Anet to fix the cutscene engine so aggro/mobs are removed from nearby when the cutscene starts. Point being rather than blaming other players, point out what the real problem is i.e. a game design flaw.

if the group is getting owned by mobs fair enough it should be skipped, however I am playing this game for the first time and intend to follow the story BY WATCHING THE CUT SCENES.
Its really starting to piss me off people repeatedly spamming OMGZ SKIP CUT SCENZ NUB.
I dont care how many ppl skip it (unless the part is getting killed) I WILL watch it.

Let me remind you all, I am not complaining about watching the same scenes over and over. That's fine by me, but when the party is dead afterwards, that's not.
Mavrik
I watch all the cutscenes that I have not seen before. And I died during the Riverside Providance mission first cutscene lol so I know what its like. But some people may not even realise they can actually die during a cutscene until its to late.
Dash Logan
What is wrong with watching the cut-scenes, some people might have not seen them before, some people like me like to use it as a break between all the constant button clicking and moving the mouse or use the chance by getting a drink or using the loo.
Its better doing that there than going afk while fighting don't you think, but i do think having the movies accessed from the menu might be a good idea, think diablo 2 had that, its been so long since i played it.
PS, ive played this game so many times, i have never died or anyone else in the party to a cutscene

Well I've had a few missions I've been beaten on in cutscenes, and never taken any damage. To be honest if they're after you, then you should stop and fight them. And if someone hasn't played before, then yes, they're gonna want to watch. Yes its annoying after the first time, but tough, to be honest. If you're that bothered, play the game through with henchies. I do now and it means one click skips all the movies.
If I was still on my first play through, yes, I'd watch all the movies. The only scene I never watched was the one at one of the ascension missions because "we need all the time".
Easy solution; anet makes it so that during cutscenes, you take no damage.

True many are new, and some want to see the cutscene. Some could be lagging some could be afk for a second to be able to come back after the cutscene. If being superior is the case go henchie it like we elitist and smarter people do it. Every mission is henchiable.

Live and learn , or die in your case. You ranted the end.
Diablo???
I had that happen to me too, at Ice caves, right when we break out evenia, our whole party was being torched and destroyed by two mobs of whilte mantles in the cutscene... 7 out of 8 people wanted to skip the cutscene.
the surviving warrior (possibly the one who didn't skip) had no res, and was unaware that charging into that huge group of mursaats uninfused was not a bright idea.
very frustrating. At the moment, skipping when under attack is the only thing we can do, but Anet should implement enemy relocation for the cutscenes, or temporary party invincibility, until cutscene is over, that way we can watch cutscenes without worry. Because it's not fair that through peer pressure some players were forced to miss out on important story elements seen through the cutscene.
(edit: Or how about picture in picture? That would be cool, while the whole party instantly relocate to their designated location and resume the game play, a mini window shows the cutscene.)

How about before you enter the mission or get around the area where the scene is, ask people to skip the scene. Or if they don't want to, because they haven't seen it before, make sure you ask them to clear out the mobs first.
A little communication goes a long way in this game. Remember, the way you deliver your message is often just as important as the message itself.
The only time it bugs me when people don't skip cutscenes is when there is a MM involved and they just sit there and let the minions die.

Another answer is to kill the monsters before the cut scene instead of just running though the mission. So many people are impatient and just want to get to the end of the game instead of enjoying the game itself. Slow down and enjoy the game, IMO it is over way too fast.

They join in and don't talk, so you never know if you just got a quiet person or someone who doesn't understand you good / at all.

Well, it's your punishment for not killing everything that you're supposed to. Only missions where you need to run (not elona, you can do it without) are great northern wall (even then with a few high lvls ya don't) and ice caves for the mursaat. That's it. Anything else, and you aren't playing the game how it was intended.
nomed
If you are supposed to kill everything anyway, why are there bonuses? I suppose you completed every bonus the first time you played the missions, because otherwise you are not playing the game the way it's supposed to be played.
Or are you just a wiseguy trying to stir crap? Nah.

Well I have done most of the missions many, many times and I often get rude people who complain because someone didnt skip the cinematic. Yes Its boring but people also have to understand that it may be a persons first time in that mission - they may actually be following the story - I did the first time round. People who complain at this for no reason are ***holes. However if somone aggro's a group and gets their party killed because they havent skipped then they are idiots. This hasnt happened to me personally I can say though.

Wow, what a flashback... It's been a LONG time since I've seen one of these topics.
