It has long been rumoured that mixed region parties could enter the UW from the temple at Lornars pass, but to my knowledge i've not seen proof of that theory until now. It has always been a rumor with some saying you can, others when only your region has favor.

Yesterday we tested when Europe had favor and no combination of parties would cause the statue to light up, except an all European one.

Today we tested when America had favor with the following results.
The Team left Beacons international with
4 Americans
2 EU

A Guild Droks runner Ran us to DD and then we rezoned in and fought briefly to the temple in lornars.

We were amazed when the statue was lit.

And then it took us to the UW!!!

After dying quickly we re-appeard back to Becons and changed party leader to an European one(me) in case it was related to the Region of the party leader.

A quick run back to DD with the same party proved that the region of the leader has nothing to do with it.

The Party mix was then reduced to
3 American
2 Eu

A quick rezone and back and the statues were still lit

The Party mix was then reduced to
2 American
2 Eu

A quick rezone and back and the statues were still lit

A final test was then performed
1 American
2 Eu

A dash into the temple revealed that the statues were UNLIT

There is no reason why this could not be used to get parties from all regions into the UW, so long as there are an equal number of Americans in the party.

Mods feel free to delete if you feel this as an exploit, it's not posted up intending to be as such but as a way in which friends from around the world can finally go to a high level area free of the constraints of region.

Alas, proof that favor is not always required to enter UW! Thank you

Indeed! well done on coming up with conclusive evidence on the matter..

I personally don't feel that this has anything to do with exploitation of the game as it makes perfect sense and was (most likely) what the programmers intended.

Nope... I want to point out that this only worked when the favor belonged to AMERICA. Not a single mixed group that we tried could get the statue activated when Europe had favor.

That was entire point of the statue... to allow international groups to play together. Think it got changed slightly... not sure. Meh.

Thought the International Servers were in America anyways? So only when America had favour it would work? Dunnoes...

I suspect the Favor Statue Object is required to have a default region attached to it, they just chose America.

Considering the time/effort it takes to get there I would thing that there should be some advantage over just mapping to ToA.

What he said.

If America had favour, why would they bother zoning to international and running there?

To help some friends in another country?

Wouldn't it be easier for them to simply congregate on the same server? ;P

it seems you need to have a majority or equal number of people form the continent that has favour, thats why it didnt work the first time or the final time... you should try when euro has favour with 5 euros and 3 us

I have never seen this happen before but I did hear about it. Still I'd rather just hvae favor to make it eaiser.

I look forward to the international mixers leaving from Warcamp or Camp Rankor!

Congrats Shan and others, wish I could have been in the conclusive evidence group, but it's great to see this kind of success!

Cool, very nice research Shanaeri (as usual).

Let me get one thing straight though. If America has favor a team with more (or equal) amount of Americans as Europeans can access the UW. If Europe has favor a team with more (or equal amount) of Europeans as Americans can't acces the UW.

If so: strange... very strange...

Angus, all your picture shows is that you were able to enter with a morale boost. What Shan's research shows is that it confirms the rumor that you can take a mixed nationality group to the UW via this portal and what the conditions for entry are.

We actually tried earlier with 2 & 2 and it was only until the last American had left the party that the statue lit up.

What about the Grenth statue in the Ascalon Foothills? Will you be able to enter the Underworld with an ascended party from that location?

That statue has only provided the bonus and regen boosts for donations.

Same with the Balthazaar Statue in the Falls.

Good job on the research, but don't name the thread world at peace because you made me think Anet took out the AOE patch. =)

@Sledge

You should read the according article. We've been down there with 5 US and 3 EU players. We did several test runs - like the guy that started this thread here. And we came to the same results. The good thing about Lornar is 3 things:

1) You can buy the moral boost before entering the UW.
2) You can enter the UW with a mixed group from an international district.
3) The change of the favor doesn't affect you as soon as you leave the outpost.

Angus,

You linked a page referencing the picture, and not a page referencing the article, as your proof of that your group was the first to do it.

I simply stated that your picture shows only the fact that you can enter with bonus. Whether it is evidence of being the first group to ever do it... that's wholly debatable by other more elite peoples, including the drok runners that began within weeks after public release.

Lastly, while it might not be news to yourself and your colleagues, the reaction from many in this thread indicates that this was still new information to some. Whether or not this thread gets archived as definitive proof of the status of the Lornar's temple is up to fate and the decisions of the community.

In any case, I'm still looking forward to adventuring with mixed groups.
