No, Ice means you should equip the unidentified shield and see if it adds any hp bonus always, while enchanted or while in stance. And test if there are any damage reductors present as well.

yea, sounds complicated to me too

i'd just id it as you'll have no chance of selling it for much unid'ed now as everyone is going to assume you've already tested it and found nothing worthwhile on it.
