Will there be new sets of "Super expensive" armors in Factions?
khelben
Just wondering will there be new sets of armors like the ones in Fissure Of Woe? Because i just got enough materials and cash for them, but also Factions is coming soon so i thought that I'd save them for the new sets?
So uh.. any rumours about it?
Thanks in advance

lol i too was wondering the same thing.

Release is months away. No one knows yet. Asking these sort of questions is rather stupid.
Lady Lozza
lol I'm reserving spending too much till I see what armour is available on the beta weekend. I'd say that Assassin and Ritualist will get FoW or at least the equiv. As for whether the core characters will have access to "new FoW" type armour, I've no idea.

Yea just wait till then we will see what will really happen with that

Well, I'm not too concerned with FoW.. But I think this is what GW will do, they have a "Temple of Ages" In Cantha, in a sort of nuetral zone. And it'll be basically the same as the GW one, except FoW will have Assassin and Ritualist armor. I hope theres an equavilant to Droknar's Forge too.. In my opinion 15k is more worth it then fow, 1/8th of the price basically, and in some cases they look cooler too. So I'm just keeping about 450k in lock down, and spending only when it goes over the 450k mark.

i've already reserved as of now about 401 k for new armor for my ranger/and if they do it for pets, my warrior and assassin. and for weapons since all the costs and materials may or may not be different, just save up oh yeah and buy some rubbies and saphires as well.
Snowman
Maybe they would add the armour for Assasin and Ritualist at the FoW..
but in Cantha, have a completly different kind of High Level PvE place which crafts something _other_ than armour?... maybe some Dark-smithy which crafts unique looking (and I stress 'looking') weapons and items!
You know that Hammer which the Gems stuck in the side?.. Maybe he could make a Hammer which is just one single LARGE HUNK OF GEM!.. with a cool Jade handle... that would look oriental ; )

Each Class gets half a dozen new sets of armor. Not sure if their regular, 15k or FoW sets. All I know so far is each gets 6.
(not sure about the ritualist/assassin)
I remember reading on their page somewhere that from Cantha, or somewhere in the Expansion, you get to travel back to Lions Arch and continue on as if it was Regular guildwars. So I believe that UW/FoW will still be accessable for Ritualists/Assassins. They Just have to go through Cantha instead of Ascalon/Shiverpeaks Areas.
I am also wondering if some of the materials currently sold in the game by merchants, that arent being used for anything right now, will be used in the expansion. i.e: Rubies, Saphires, Monsterous Eyes, Monsterous Claws, Vile of Ink. Stuff like that.
I tried asking Gaile when she was online, but it seemed PvP was her topic for that day. Oh well, i'll ask her again next time.

We know their will be new armors, thats for sure, and I heard Fow might be modified, cheaper and with better stats. It's just a rumour though.
antialias02
Gaile said one day that the gems WILL be have a use in Factions. So no worries on that. Also, I read somewhere that there were seven (7), not six new armors per class.
And I think they would be doing a disservice to the community if they did not include expensive, high-level armors like 25k and FoW. I expect it. I expect it to be different, but I expect it.

why do people ask for rumors? Rumors are not based in fact. The majority of rumors that have been flying around here are outrignt lies. All that rumors do is set up high expectations that result in you being let down later.
Lady Lozza
In response to the last couple of posts, I have a couple of questions:
1) What are you doing in this forum. Since the release is months away you SHOULD know that there is going to be a fair amount of speculation and rumours. Since you obviously don't want to listen to such things, why are you here?
2) Is it so hard to understand that people actually like to listen to these things? I mean the release is months away, and between now and then we have to amuse and entertain ourselves with something.
3) Why should we be disappointed? We KNOW that they are only rumours and speculation, barring those who choose to take them for the truth, we aren't going to get ourselves worked up over those that turn out to be false. GW is only a game after all.
My point is, if you aren't going to contribute to the conversation, or think that speculation and rumour are pointless, then please DO NOT post. You are not telling us anything that we DON'T ALREADY KNOW.

LOL Ivy, I LOVE expensive armour. I'm such clothes horse. What I really need is the storage space to put them all Especially since there are going to be new sets in Factions.
I'm pretty sure that Gaile said there was going to be something like an armour rack, but I don't know how that is going to work, whether it will be just like our weapons hotkeys or whether it will help increase our storage space.

My currently problem is that, rather I should continue to save up for FoW, or, save this large sum of coin for the new ones from chapter 2.
This will also effect the price of the Globes of blah blah, I must deceide rather to sell them now, as I believe if chapter 2 has better looking armour, these Globes will drop their price.
Lady Lozza
Romeo, keep the ecto. There might be a use for them in Chpt2, there might not. But at least if you keep them you can decide later if you want to use them on Chpt1 FoW. This is what I'm doing. Since I've farmed most of my ecto collection I'm not too worried about price falling at all.
romeo_longsword
Thanks Lady for the support, but the risk is that, say at the end I decided to get an armour from chapter 2 instead of FoW, which require another expensive elements to create.
And I would need to spent a large amout of money on them. But due to the unpopularity of the ecto, I can no longer sell them the same high price as they are currently before chapter 2, so I ended up losing some values on the ectos.
And due to the fact that I have a very strong interests in the eastern style of designs such as on their housing, clothing and history, I am hoping that there will be some armour set that carries a good far eastern feel. I play a ranger you see, and I think an eastern looking ranger would look really really good.
And I suppose my concern will not end untill I finally see the new armour selections, and since they keep this sort of info so tight, I just cant decide and most likely ended up doing what you suggested.

lol well I can't imagine that the price of ecto will fall TOO much. After all there is no garantee that the core classes will have access to new sparkly expensive armour. That is to say factions players might have access to FoW and that will be the only expensive armour in the game. I personally don't see this happening, but like I said earlier there is a lot of speculation around.
Hang tight till the beta weekend and we should have a lot more information then

As an aside, Lady, Gaile has confirmed that FoW and UW are places people can only reach from Tyria (ie: Chapter 1 chars), and that Cantha would probably have its own similar places. I think in a different convo she hinted that they would possibly be to different gods, as well, but THAT is only rumor. The first part is confirmed.
fiery
I gave up reading after seeing the statements, this is rather stupid and etc. And i agree dont assume, and wait and see. It' has not come out yet so why keep making the same threads over and over again about the same question. WE dont know about the new armor and won't maybe until the PVE weekend or later.
Ailyrr Merlena
Two things, Gaile confirmed that UW/FoW would only be reached from Tyria, and that there would be a similar place in Cantha (I can't remember how long ago that was).
Also, more recently, she said, "Keep your ectos". (about a week to ten days ago).
That was all, rather cryptic, yes, but it answered some questions.

Most likely Rubies and Sapphires, which are both near the current Ecto price, will be the new Ectos and Shards I expect the new types of armor (stat wise) will be in both 1.5K and 15K forms, and the new expensive armor, which will most like use Rubies and Sapphires.
And if what I'm thinking of is correct, the "Keep your ectos" probably ment something like "FOW Armor will never be useless, since the new types of armor (stat wise again) might not fit your build, you might just want the FOW Armor instead of the new expensive armor".
What I actually hope the very most, is dropable armor, which drops very rarely, just to make the way to get your armor a different way I mean.. Why not? It'd automaticly customizes to you on drop, and this way there's actually a reason to play PVE alot again!

hmmmm i think ecto price will drop big time, why.
new proffesions, new weapons, new skills, new guild halls, new armor.
what about new crating material, new collectors items, new dyes.
well i know 1 thing. just like all changes in the game, it costs money. so i am saving like hell. i got best weapons for my chars, so why keep other item. got 300k now, but want much more.

A lot of people are assuming that rubies and sapphires are going to be used in Factions. For good reason. It does make sense since there's no use for them now and Gaile has supposedly mentioned it. I'm seeing a lot of "WTB all your rubies and sapphires" spam now. I suppose it's two types spamming. Speculators gambling that the prices will jump. People who are wanting to accumulate as much as they can assuming that they will be able to use it in the new armor and want to get it ASAP. I've thought about jumping on the gem bandwagon, but I'm too conservative. I don't want to stock up on them only to find out that there's still no use for them yet. For now, I'll just stock my gold in storage. Though, I may regret that later.
Ailyrr Merlena
Gaile has mentioned that the previously unused crafting materials might possibly be used in Factions.
As to hording gems: There was a lot of speculation about gems being used in the Sorrow's Furnace update (for those who remember). I was in a guild with one of the people buying ALL those gems. Needless to say, he took a huge killing on them when they weren't used.
Just remember, a rumor is just that, until its been confirmed by Anet.

I know a lot of people are stocking up on cash and stuff but i have a different approach for the new armors. I am trying to get as much of the unuasable (is that even a word) rare crafting materials i can. This will help in the long run when they implement the 15k armors for the new sets. Buy now for 100gold or wait and pay much more later. Its just what im doing to save for my new 15k armor other than stockpiling some k.
Njall
I don't want new armors, I just want a nice shiny armor (for 15k) for my wolf
Thom
Two points:
1) Consider how much time people have spent in the past trying to get expensive armor, it would be stupid not to have more. Sometime you want new ideas, but huge gold sink armor will be a horse that they will continue to ride. 15k and fissure armor maintain community through some very high end goals while also maintaining the markets to some extent.
2)The biggest "failure" of prophecies is the feeling that some of the game remains in complete. The map has so many areas you can't reach and too many dead ends (I actually uncovered it all in testing). The temple of the ages promises to have an area for each god, but they only ever got to 2/5. While there are now 2 other high end areas, would have been happier finishing ToA instead of shadow's furnace or the new Tombs. I love Guild Wars, but like most games that are this ambitious it really needed another 2 months of work before release.
