Yo, just firstly wanted to ask, with the 15k Necrotic armor, does the +5 to holy damage stack?

So for example, will i take +20 holy damage because of the four pieces or is it +5 regardless of how many pieces i have?

attacks are boxed right? so it'd be +5 for whatever piece hit, not global, go get a second opinion from someone who's tested it

No, it's +5 each, globablly stacking. I have 3 pieces and it's +15 for me. As in, symbol of wrath does 22 + 15 = 37 damage.

Good thing, especially in pve, there isn't much holy dmg being done.

Holy Damage appears in several places in PvE.

All the Cacti (aloe seed variants) have some form of retribution or reflected holy damage. Several nightmares have holy damage. The Bane Signet attack by the Charr shamen are holy damage. Griffons in the Southern Shiverpeaks use AoE holy attacks.

These all have holy damage but can be avoided for the most part.

In PvP, I have limited experience, but it appears that smiting is on the rise.

This being said, my necromancer only has one set of armor - tormentors. If I were serious about taking them into PvP, I'd get a set of armor with piercing damage reduction for swap when facing rangers.

its really not that bad, if something uses retribution or holy wrath, just use spells and dont staff/wand it, and you shouldnt be standing next to blessed griffons anyway. the +10 AL does really make up for it in my opinion

Just watch out for Judges Insight in PvP.

An E/Mo running air spike with Judges on is LETHAL to Necros with Necrotic.
(10% air penetration + 10% Judges penetration + holy damage = HOLY COW!)

500 hp down to zero in about 8 seconds.
I've experienced it on my Necro.

I'm sure sledge knows this, but as an FYI to anyone else reading this thread: Tormentor's is the same as Necrotic, in that you get added damage from holy attacks.

Also I think that monks should have an armor that has +damage to shadow/dark damage attacks to make it fair but that's just me hatin' ...

Something is off about this statement:

Judges Insight gives 20% armor penetration on "attacks" - of which spells are not considered. Additionally, the armor penetration of some lightning spells is 25%. If an E/Mo was doing both, the penetration would not stack as the JI is not supposed to impact spells.

If stacking is actually occurring, then there are problems and inaccuracies in the spell descriptions.

However, a ranger doing the standard spike with JI on would be quite deadly vs a necromancer wearing these armor classes. That is why I suggested getting the other class armor for PvP, since rangers tend to be quite popular in the arenas.

So I guess it does not matter.

There's no question, the +10AL is a huge help. You just need to be aware of the various enemy types and/or spells that deal Holy damage. In PvE, you don't need to change armor when facing these enemies, just be aware, and adjust your strategy accordingly.

In PvP, two (or more) sets of armor would be a good idea.
