I've been playing a mesmer in PVE for a long time and lately I've become interested in PVP. I think it would be fun to be a shutdown mesmer but I don't know where to start.
First what exactly does a shutdown do? Do they deny the target of energy or do they make it so they are just unable to use skills or both?
So any help or skills I could use will be very appreciated

shutdown is something people say. it doesn't mean anything. 'shutdown mes lfg'......blah blah.
mesmers are team players. they don't do damage like an ele but they can slow down warriors and negate some of their damage, deny caster's energy, slow down caster's cast time, deny foe's use of skills, interrupt their actions..and do a little damage......all with 7 skills.
you can find hundreds of builds on this forum and many great suggestions.

There are many differen't skills availible for a shutdown mesmer, not just a certain 8 that everone uses. Just start trying differen't skill combinations and see what works best for you.
