R/Me

Hey everyone this is my first build post

kk this is the ranger meat cleaver that i just made up for fun one day don't know whether this build has already been done but i am going to put it up anyway. Also i know there are gooan be laods of parts which your goona cringe at but just remeber it was for fun.

R/W

Armor

Druids armor with Beast mastery mask

Final Attribute set

Axe mastery - 11
Tactics - 9
beast mastery - 9
expertise - 9
WS - 6

(yes i know you are laughing at this attribute set and screaming "noob" at your screen)

Runes

minor WS
minor Beast mastery
major or Sup exp
sup rune of vigor

Skills

Eviscerate
Axe rake
Exe strike
Tiger's fury
Whirl defense
Troll ungent
apply poison
Res sig

Weapons

Axe,Furious,fortidue + tactics shield
Axe,ebon,fortidue + tactics shield

now as for your skills stats here they are

Tigers fury - 9 seconds
Troll ungent - +6 hp degen
apply posion - 8 seconds
Whirl defense - 16 seconds 9 piercing
Eviscerate - +32dmg hp cut duration - 16 seconds
Axe rake - +8 seconds
exe strike - 32 dmg

I mainly use this build for TA or CA

now one way you can play the build is to wait 5 seconds in to the fight and then cast apply poision. Use tiger's fury and spike with Eviscerate, axe rake and exe strike. If you can time it right you can chain this combo twice in succession.

Now i know this build isn't very good but it is mainly a fun build and depending on the team i can usually go on average a 7-10 run in TA with this build.

i am mainly posting this up for opinions on the build and anyways i can improve the it.

only constructive criticism please.

The skill setup would be better on an Axe Warrior/ranger. Tiger's fury does benefit ranger primary, but that seems to be the only reason. Warrior primary can get strength, w/ armor penetration on each point, not to mention major tanking ability, and also the advantage of using axe skill boosts, 14 to 16. You only need 3/4 points in wilderness as poison duration recharges each time you hit your opponent. As a warrior primary, you'd get healing signet that actually utilizes your already high tactics points.

r/w should go energy intensive, as they have higher energy and expertise. In your setup I see no energy skill, and only adrenaline skills. I don't know if expertise lowers cost of adrenaline skills also, and I frankly don't think so. If it does, then nvm, if it doesn't my criticisms stand.

EDIT: as for melee rangers I STRONGLY recommend hammers. Also, if you want to make the best out of your 9 points in expertise, at least use swift chop.

#2 You're a prophet. I actually was laughing at the skill points. if you're not going to use any tactics, then don't put points into it. You can keep the shield for looks. It's just wasteful to put that much points in a attribute you don't use at all. also, 4 in BM should suffice. I'd max out the axe mastery with the points left over.

I agree with dry about the Tactics. Just dump them. You'll still get the effects from the shield (+Health while in a stance, for instance) but it'll only have like 5 AL. Not that that matters, it's much better to focus your attributes a bit more. 4 max, whatever your build.

Axe, generally, is better suited to a War primary. Rangers should try to take advantage of their Expertise (which does not effect Adrenaline skills) and shouldn't concentrate on spike damage. Wars are better for spiking. But, you did good in picking up Apply Poison. I suggest not worrying about the poison length, as you're probably going to be spamming it on anyway.

Just my opinions, from one melee Ranger to another.

I used to use a similar build for PVP, except I didn't have whirling defense in it and had a W/R with Axe Rake instead to replace it. My advice? Don't invest into Tactics if you don't have any skills for it and.. Tiger's fury works well enough with less BM. It goes from 5 to.. something around 8 seconds if you put that whole EIGHT POINTS into it.

Axe
Strength
WS

Thats all you really need for the build... spare a few points in BM if applicable.
