Capture Signet Frustration

While trying to obtain Order of the Vampire, upon seeing it flash up on the top of my screen, I hit my capture signet--ONLY TO CAPTURE A SKILL I HAD LEARNED IN THE SHIVERPEAKS.

Does anyone agree that this is fair--that, even on top of not being sure who's casting the spell, you can capture stuff you already have?

Does this mean I can go and capture a spell I already have on my skillbar, obtain two copies of it?

I am frustrated too, by abandoning the quest after using the Signet for Immoliate, and trying to reget the quest, I can't get the bloody signet! I hope they sort out the problem, now that I have e-mailed them via Support...

Have you got the signet skill yet or have you just got the 1 freebee use from the Lions Arch quest?

As far as my experience, it is impossible to capture a skill you already had. You must have captured another skill that you didn't want but didn't own yet. I usually equip 2--3 signets to compensate for this.

You cannot capture a skill that you already have on your skill list. You need to pay attention on what skill you are capturing, and if it the wrong skill you can always cancel it (like you cancel a spell or a skill). Of course it may not always be easy to do this especially if the boss is pounding on your face. I think monks got the shaft with this capturing mechanism since they have to watch their teammates health bar and the enemy's action.

Eh, personally I don't go elite "hunting". I run around with a signet of capture and if I happen across an elite skill, woo! Personally, I don't think order of the vampire is all that great. It requires you have alot of melee in your group and even then, it only last 5 seconds and that duration can't be increased at all.

The ability Spiteful Spirit however, is rather nice. In the right situation, it can be wonderful. Example. Weakness on 3 warriors trying to gang someone, and Spiteful Spirit one. Every time they hit they do next to no damage and they're beating the crap out of themselves. 99.99% of the time, they never know they have the ability on them and fry their friends because they didn't pay attention.

Personally I would like to find more spiffy curses. I'm having trouble finding ones that are really worth while. I try to do as much AoE as possible, as single target curses seem like a waste unless you're singleing someone out that isn't about to be pounded into paste by the entire group.

Frustration? Frustration? Frustration is not something that the people getting the Elite skills are allowed to have. Frustration is for those that get disconnected on when someone that got their skill, missed their skill, or only found their skill, disconnects.

This is why there needs to be a removal of the Signet Of Capture system.

Twice today I was disconnected on with a winning team by three, (chatting about the skills) then one, (right after the fight with Mr. Hundred Blades) during the Hell's Precipace mission.

This is wrong, and the game developers needs to understand that some of us play only when we are not off work, so this kind of repetition is killing some.

If you want the skills to be Elite, how about only letting those that have beat the game use them. Or sell them at the skill trainer at the camp before that boss.

Understand, getting your skills is one thing, but disconnecting right afterward, is evil to those of us with limited time and hopes that the group would at least know that you would disconnect prior to the mission start. I would boot any disconnecters on these missions in the Crystal Desert and beyond, BTW.

Doing SoC (signet of capture) in a PUG (pick-up group) is hard. I spam early and often:

I'm in this group to get Signet of Capture on XXXX for skill YYYY. When we get to XXXX, if _anyone_ kills him before I capture YYYY, I will disconnect. Otherwise, I will stay on and finish the quest.

About 40% of the time it works, and the PUG lets me get the skill; the other 60% of the time when some yahoo kills XXXX, I then write:

As a condition for my engagement with this PUG, I kindly asked you to keep XXXX alive so I could capture YYYY. You killed XXXX, and therefore I am now disconnecting and going to District #3.

I feel sorry for the other people who are not responsible for the killing in the PUG, but, after resetting back to town; I found that 3 of the 5 people in the group also disconnected and rejoined me. I then got a chance to capture YYYY and I moved on to help them finish the quest.

Yes, it is in fact impossible to capture a skill that you already know.
In addition, while casting capture signet a very large bar appears on the screen telling you exactly what skill you are capturing. If you timed it wrong and it says a skill that you don't in fact want, just stop casting capture (moving will interrupt it) and wait for the boss to capture the skill again.
