I just joined the forums today and tried sciming through all of the threads and did not come across my answer so sorry if it was alreay posted

I have been playing for about 2 days so I am still kind of a nub! Just came from SWG, if anyone knew Four-winds. I am currently a lvl 6 elementalist/Mesme and I was kind of curious on my main weapon:

1) What should I be using? What is a good dmg range and does it even matter since I mainly cast spells?

2) Does the element of the wand I use effect my spells? Will I hit a creature based on ice harder with a wand that has a main element of fire when using a spell?

Thank you for the help!

One handed weapons allow you to use the offhand slot for a +energy items (Focus,Icon,Artifact...). If you go for a two handed weapon make sure it has energy bonuses (IE staff with +energy) It doesn't state specifically anywhere what the effect of using a Fire Wand (for example) with fire skills is. I believe they are related but don't know what the effect is. Again I'm not sure about hitting a Ice Mob with fire spells. Fire seemed more effective against the Ice Elementals when I did Wizard's Folly.

Heh, at your lvl just take a 1 hander prolly sword with the highest dmg you can find and use an off-hand high energy (maybe with another + also) and just swing away. The lower end weapons don't really have any requirements so make use of the best you can find dmg wise.

I don't recommend a melee weapon because elementalist armor just isn't that good.

If you are soloing and fighting a mob that uses melee, it is going to get on you no matter what weapon you use. Once you go to post searing and get henchmen or what-not and you can avoid mobs getting to you then you would be better off using your long range weapons. Regardless of what you do, if you aggro a mob more than someone else, it is going to be on you quicker than shat. In that case just learn how to run. My ele/nec has a range weapon now since she is higher now and the reqs. are now playing a part in my choice, but I get hit as much either way.
