One of the names I really wanted when I started playing was taken. I still would like it, but I'm not about to pay for it. It is just a game after all and coming up with names isn't all that difficult.

I'd never pay for a name - if a name is taken - well bad luck look for another one
Theres one name i'd love to have but surprisingly (as not many names from the series of books are in use ) was taken allready but oh well what can ya do .

With more than 400 fantasy books in my library its most likely that i find one i like in another book

It wouldn't happen to me because I had my Ele's GW name since the 2004 betas and would never give it up.

On a more on topic note, if people cannot think of an original name it is scary.

Seeing i originally use "Fiery" i say its the best way to Keep and Create names, and causes less confusion within the guild saying "who is this, etc" than saying " o it's fiery just a new name".

well three of my charcters have the same surname and all my characters have first names that i always use in other games which i just make up. My fourh charcters surname was taken from a guy that I heard about in a Iraqi hisotry book that i was reading. Well anyway the point is that u should just stick with one surname and then just make up clever first names. Or do what i did with my monk and use a real persons surname thats not very popular

I never had someone ask me for any of my names, they are personal anyway so no one would really want them but I saw a lot of people with Purple at the end.

I wish that we get the ability to change a name at least one time, I really want to change my necro's name.

If you delete a character, the name stays associated with your account for about an hour. After that, the name becomes fair game. The only way to keep the name permanently assigned to your account is keep a character with that name.

I know this from (a) moving names between my accounts, (b) getting a name I wanted that wasn't available at release, but became available in August.

I guess the name 'Prince Rurik' is taken. Lord pity the fool...

I always use Maxiemonster in my character names, so I don't get the "Who the hell are you?" reply after whispering someone. Having something that's easy to recognize causes less confusion

"Pre Maxiemonster"
"Mr Maxiemonster"
"Mrs Maxiemonster"
"Mini Maxiemonsters"

and of course the all famous "I Am A Packmule"

I've been wanting to have a character with the name "Lord Hypnos", and have been tempted to try the name of the person who has it, but unfortunately, I've never seen him online. It probably belongs to some guy who bought the game, made the character, but stopped playing...

How does selling names work...? I mean I realize how you can pay someone for them to delete a character.....but what happens if someone else randomly creates a character around the same time using the name....I don't see how both parties can be sure they get what they want.....kinda shady to me

I would defenitly pay for 2 names that were taken from me. 1 was taken while I was rerolling a pvp character.

Well, I either get stuck in one of two different boats:

Boat 1) The name I want is *ONE* character too long to fit into the space provided for your name ... which is beyond frustrating, especially if it's hard to abbreviate.

Boat 2) Name is already taken. When all this Chuck Norris nonsense started flying around, I named a PvP earth ele I had "ward against norris", and now someone's taken that ... not that i'd pay to have it back, mind you, but it still makes me sad as I thought it was rather appropriate when facing the mobs of Warriors with "norris" somewhere in their name

someone once offered 20k for my monk's name "Your Message Here".... it was too good for just 20k, if he added another zero to that offer i might have reconsidered

my pet's name however was free, "Click Here"...

Thing is if someone really wants an existing name, wouldnt it be easier to use an extra letter or variation that would still make it look like the original name, instead of "pstt...how much you want for your name..."

/save your money...add a letter.
/laff.

+ that was the whole point of the need for first and last names, to be unique enough even if you have the same first or last name someone already has.

Personally, I would not sell any of the names Ive created because their well-thought out and I always make sure to keep em. Though, I wouldnt mind if someone takes the name after the 2hr limit.

I wouldn't pay for a name, thats just.. um stupid? If its taken, do what people suggested and add a letter. I like my names anyway, i have 3 characters that use my last name somewhat, one of them uses just the first letter "p" (if you haven't guessed my last name by now, i pity you.) I like my necro name tho "Um You Die Now

I'd never, ever pay for any name... not even Chuck Norris (and that's my guild). I like the names I have, and no one has ever asked to buy it... since mine are mostly personal like my monk, which has a name from Eberron (D&D). All of my name were never taken, except when I was trying to be stupid in PvP and naming my character Bow Man Chuck... prolly taken now.
