dro_china town
did you know.. when you put a rune on an item
and you put the same run on another item youre equipped with

you only get 1 effect
same goes for 4 things on 4 items.. 1 effect,
thats dumb. they should let us soooup our things up like japanese sports cars mann
~
you only get 1 big woop -.-
then why are people buying 3 or 4 supiror vigors for 25grand and using them when they figure out they dont work..
im just trying to help some people out..
and i think guild wars should change it..

No, this just empowers people far too greatly, the point of raising an attribute so high with major and superior runes is that there is a drawback, and there are a few classes who would benefit from this kind of stacking too much, because they focus themselves in one area and thus have more left over armor slots.
As for people who purchase 3 or 4 superior vigors for 25k and fail to realize they do not stack...how the hell did they get 100k in plat with no knowledge of the game...people ask these kinds of questions back in Yak's Bend and Ascalon, and there is a flood of them in Lion's Arch.

Ok I have a queston on this- If I put a minor vigor rune on my boots, another on leggings, another on helm, another on gauntlets and lastly one on my curiass......you're saying I only get the benefit of 1 of them?
Secondly are runes removable?

If you put a minor vigor rune on your leggings and one on your helm, you will only get the benefit of one rune.
Yes, you can remove them, but that will destroy the whole piece of armor that had the rune plus there's a chance you won't get the rune at all (in that case, you will just get salvage materials). Use the Expert salvage kit on them.
PS. Don't put runes in collector items, as you won't be able to salvage them back.

Thank you Mariena!!
Thought I'd read where you can extract a rune after you'd applied it to your armour but wasn't sure. As well the whole "stackable" to me refers to applying a duplicate type rune to the same piece of equipment - hence stacking - rather than applying a similar rune to an entirely differnt piece of equipment. So your answer as well was helpful and again, I thank you.
Seems a form of balancing but at the same type crappy that you aren't able to use the same type of Rune - ie Minor Vigor in boots, Major in leggings and Superior in Helm etc.

If items were to stack the game becomes unbalanced... as you could have 4 superior runes or warding... giving you -12 damage from attacks, and anything else imaginable.

Also if they were stackable why would you use superior runes you would just apply thre minors for no health penalty. Also what is the penalty for a rune of superior vigor anyone know?

hmmm methinks maybe have the 'generic' runes unstackable (things like warding etc) but the ones that go for your attribute points SHOULD be. After all, as a ranger for example, I don't want an extra 1 in every attribute. I might want a set of BeastMastery Armour, for when I'm going pet-fighting, or perhaps one with 2 expertise and 2 wilderness runes on.

Imagine this...
One Superior Vigor per piece of armor, head, arms, legs, chest, leggings...
That equals +250 health. Right now with Censors icon I have 520 minus my minor vigor, I had the 250 to that, I have a whopping 770, can you imaigne trying to take down a tank with that, or more? Some items give you alot more than the Censors Icon does.
Or say five Superior Fire runes, sure you boost your fire by three per rune, but you also loose 75 health PER rune meaning you lose a total of 375, no one would do this, but if they did i'd be suprised... 520-375 means you get a whopping 145. Or say max health, no mods or the like is what 480? Thats even less...
Not even putting one major, in head, one minor in chest and one Superior in leggings will work, only ONE of each rune per and only one rune will count and I think which one it is is random, i'm not too certain.
I'm glad they dont' stack. I have extras of all of my runes in case the rune isn't extracted, I've lost one rune that way but had a backup. I got cloth instead, so this is why people buy extra runes. For protection and insurance against losing them, at least thats what I do.
Not stacking is a good idea, it keeps the balance, like everything else.
