I've read and have heard ppl say they got bow grips, special handles, and bow strings...where do you get them at? I've been looking now for almost 10 days and have yet to get one in the game from using Salvage Kits, visiting Crafters and Collectors, and Charr drops.

Where can I get these? I'm at a loss how ppl get them.
Thanks.

You can get them through two different ways. Buying them off people who have gotten them or find them off of salvagable items. Bow grips, strings, and hafts can be salvaged from purple or gold bows and sometimes blue ones as well. BUT DO NOT USE A NORMAL SALVAGE KIT. You need an Expert Salvage Kit to be able to salvage those items due to them being so rare. I hope that is helpful enough

Well, if you're killing charr still you need to advance further in the game. When a Purple or Gold item drops (usually after yaks bend where the "EXPERT" salvage kits are) you will see a suffix or prefix on the item after you ID the item. If it has one, using an Expert salvage kit gives you a "chance" to salvage the grip/string etc.

Ex Shocking Long Bow. Shocking is the prefix, if I use an expert salvage kit I have a chance to get a Shocking Bow String or wood planks. Its all luck.

Ah, splendid information. I've received about 20 blue colored bows thus far and have always used the regular Salvage Kits on them, not the expert. Actually last night was the first time in the game I've ever received a purple colored drop...a nice Foehammer.

Dang, I feel like such a noob still, hehe.

It is fine, I never ended up thinking about any of this till I hit Lions Arch. Oh, and thank you for following up with that post. I completely forgot to mention that you need to identify the item first. If you do not identify the colored item then the rare item will not showup at all more than likely.
