Just out of curiosity, T Bone, could you provide us with the following information?
1.) The make and model of your graphics card.
2.) The make and model of your sound card.
3.) The watts/volts ratings of your PSU (if possible).
4.) When was the last time you defragged your hard disk?
5.) Is there any noticeable heat coming from inside the PC?
6.) Have you attempted to reinstall the Guild Wars client?
This information could help a lot. Thanks in advance.

1.) The make and model of your graphics card.
You can find this by clicking Run... on the Start menu and typing "dxdiag" into the box. Once the DirectX screen loads, click the display tab and it should show all the information about your graphics card that we need.
2.) The make and model of your sound card.
You can also find this in the DirectX screen, but sometimes it's incorrect (mainly if it's an on-board sound card.) Let me know what it says anyway.
3.) The watts/volts ratings of your PSU (if possible).
You can find this by opening the case on your PC, at the top of the case (assuming you have a tower) should be a box where your power lead plugs in. On the visible side of that box should be a large sticker with a bunch of numbers, what I'm particularly interested in is the power rating (eg. 350w) and the 12v rating (eg. 15a).
I suggest you try defragging your hard disk and, if the problem remains, reinstalling Guild Wars. Can't wait to hear back from you.

You might also give memory a spin at 100% by itself, as you didn't put much of a load on it last time.

thanksThanks a lot for the info! Your graphics card should run Guild Wars quite well, I've never heard of any serious issues with the 9200 series, but you will need to turn a lot of settings down (assuming you haven't already.)
I do have to say, though, that a 240w power supply is rather small. It could well be causing problems. The 12v rail has a nice amount of power though, so it should be okay I guess. Still, I'm suspicious of it.
Did defragmenting your hard drive help at all? If not then please reinstall Guild Wars (if you have the time) and get back to us.
Thanks a lot for the continued input.

It's possible that your drivers are making your computer freeze. I was running on Catalyst 5.1's before and it would freeze every now and then (the same way you described it). After installing 5.4 the problem went away.
P.S. The latest (as of today) are 5.5's at http://www.ati.com/home/online/CatalystXPdriver.html

I hope you don't mind me saying so, Principa, but outstanding work. You're very kind and patient.
Mr T Bone, good going. It makes the whole process so much more rewarding for a volunteer tech when you're that responsive. Kudos to both of you.
Sorry to interrupt the thread, but this was some solid communication.
