It would REALLY help to know the model number of your DELL system. Maybe, then, someone can suggest something. A Diamond Viper VLB (from 1992ish) might be the best you can do, but without the computer's model number we can't help you.

Yes...knowing your system specs is required. Dell Dimension 2400,3000,4600,4700,5100,9100,etc?

since you just got it it should have PCI-EXPRESS and you can get this (had to go to 75) POC

notice how they cut the price by only having 4 pipelines instead of 12/16?

notice the 128 bit interface instead of 256?

that doesent matter because notice that it is slow DDR2 ram instead of faster DDR3 ram?

SpecificationsModel
Brand POWERCOLOR
Model X550256MBDDR2
Chipset
GPU Radeon X550
Core clock 400MHz
PixelPipelines 4
Memory
Memory Clock 250MHZ x 2
Memory Size 256MB
Memory Interface 128-bit
Memory Type GDDR2

DirectX DirectX 9
OpenGL OpenGL

Interface PCI Express x16

NOTE you will do much better getting less ram and a better card.

i learned way back in the early 90`s that ram MB is not the only thing.

i got a diamond stealth with a whopping 32 mb ram and later the reviewers said that this is the first card that made him say i dont care how much ram it has it still is a crappy card

Loviatar...just because it is a new Dell doesn't mean it is a motherboard with PCIe. It could be a Dim 1100 or 3000.

9600xt AGP 128 mb or 256mb.

Lower price graphics card with 256 mb of RAM are usually useless. They only have a 128bit memory interface so... good luck

With pixel pipelines. No game currently uses more than 16. 12 4/8/12. All will do u perfectly fine in pixel pipes.

also, DO NOT EVER BUY AN XGI VOLARI CARD.

They seem very appealing, but drivers suck.

i looked at the most expensive version of that and found integrated everything and when i tried the cousomize button there was NO option to upgrade the graphics.

if you can check to see if that custom motherboard in there even has a pci (standard) slot to work with

if not you are stuck

Well....you have to add a REGULAR PCI card. You have no video card slot like AGP or PCIe.

Search the tech forum...there are many threads on this subject. OR...go to the Dell Community Forums under Dimension/Video. Many there are expert at what you can use.
