Right now i have an Intel 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV card, and I'm upgrading to an ATI Radeon 9250 PCI 256 MB (or a 9200 128 MB depending on CompUSA's stock) today. How much of an impact will this make on my game? GW doesn't even run correctly on my Intel card, so I'm forced to play on my laptop with an ATI Rage...I'm wondering if I can play with max/min settings with minimal lag. Just stuff like that. I have 512 MB RAM if that helps. I will upgrade to a gig eventually.
I hear the 9200 is out of stock, so I'm banking on getting the 9250. These were the only 2 cards they have that are PCI.
Any help would be great, thanks.
Ati 9250?

Probably medium settings at around 800x600 - 1024x768. It'll be adequate. A 9250 is a lot faster and more advanced than i845's IGP that's for certain, but it's still not a real fast card and PCI will bottleneck it a lot.
You sure you don't have a AGP slot? That would be the way to go.

I bought myself a Nvidia 5500FX (which is about the same clock speeds as a 9200) and another stick of 512 ram.
I can run guild wars at 1024x768 with atleast medium settings (without AA of course) flawlessly.
Textures, terrains, and all the other fun stuff are enhanced immensely.
I had the same integrated card as you, but mine actually worked on Guild Wars lol. I would recommend grabbing another 512 stick like you said you were going to do. I bought my SDRAM 2100 512 stick for 30 dollars . With those updates, you shouldn't have any problems playing GW.

the ati 9250 is perfectly capable of running guild wars at medium settings. i know because one of my guildies is using one in her computer. and it will be a great improvement from any integrated gfx you already have
