Compass inaccuracies?

A few times over the past few weeks, my guildies and I will be running aournd and when in between fights we might all be running to the next area.

I am watching my screen and my character is obviously in front of the other on screen and on the compass. But then they come up and say "XXXX takes the lead!" And I am still showing in front of them.

Anyone else experience this?

There are sometimes slight discrepencies in position of one character on a map between various player's computers. I used to take my laptop and play with a friend at GW with her at her house and noticed that I was in a different spot on her screen than I was in mine.
