hey all ... quick question

what would be a better shield for running as a Ranger primary?

the +10 Armor no req Gingerbread Shield

or the +45/-2 in stance +16 Armor collector Carapace Shield... i won't have 9 in Tactics tho so i won't be getting the +16 Armor

i need to use one of these shields to run to my farming spot... none of the monsters use degen so i'm just wonderin' which shield i should go with

The collector's Carapace shield since all your running skills with be stances.

Although it varies, +5 armor is pretty close to -2 damage, so I would say that the Crimson Carapace is better since it provides an inherent 3-4 armor even if you don't have the tactics.

Shield armor is only applied to the front of the character. If you're running, it will probly not come into play much. Plus you still get maybe 3 armor when you don't have the req. Go with the carapce shield.

Are you sure it only gives armor in the Front, I don't think so...

Yes, shields only give armor to the front.

GuildWiki discussion on "directional defense" - some disagreement, who knows. The major fansites are of the opinion that it is "frontal only" however.

Basic question -- do you get the full +10 from the gingerbread shield if you aren't maxed out in tactics?

The candy weapons/shields have no requirement, so anyone gets the full benefit
