1) I understand that you do some quests in the latter parts of the game to access other secondary classes at will.

1) Yes you can change your secondary professions, when you get to the desert (probally around lvl 17-20) there are quests to change your secondary
2) You can move, or i have heard you can hit th Escape key (not tested), but i belive that either way you still lose the energy the spell costs

ya, I hate casting a spell and then the guy dies and I wasted like 15 energy only to have it cancelled. Thats why I love how they updated fire storm to keep going even if your target dies in the middle of the cast. They said they will do that with some other AoE spells but I'm not sure about you non-eles
