Hitch a ride on a (tax)iMonk today
Jakerius
Introducing the TaxiMonk. An iMonk, who through flawed bot technology, invites you into their group, and SHARES THEIR LOOT!
Mod edit: I removed the pic's as they contained player's names. Please edit the pics to display no player names. Thank you.
Story:
This monkbot accidentally invited me into her group. I knew she was a bot because she didn't talk... at all. Probability of bot: High.
So anyway, I'm in her group, then she goes outside. I'm like "Sweet, I can watch what she does to learn for my iMonk" (who I was on at the time.)
So we're running around, I die. She kills everything and maps back to Augury. I get res'd, run back to death spot and grab the loot!
Heh... try it for yourself. Just stand around on the stairs near the portal out of Augury. You might get lucky.
EDIT: Wondering if I should take out the name or not.

Posting in game names of individuals is a no-no without their express permission.

Okay, wasn't sure. I'll edit the pics.
Ninjutsu Honor Code
What do you mean you cant put in the bots name because its not a real person its a program and wont object in any way possible.
wheel
Consdering that the account is owned by a human being, that's completely wrong.

I've seen (or at least thought I've seen) bots in first person shooter games before, but never here in Guild Wars. Does anyone know how a Guild Wars bot even works? For some reason, my brain has a difficult time grasping how bots can play your guy.
Xenrath
Please don't detail how to exploit/cheat...

FPS bot aims for you using colored pixels on the enemey team models and sending the mouse point directly to that specific color pixel without you doing anything
In GW, the bot simply repeats a simple routine, such as "walk here, activate these skills, pickup loot, zone back, repeat" although its in code so its more complicated.
^^^xen, i think thats what he wanted.

Haha, expoiting a bot that's exploiting the game. Funny.

Count to Potato
Thats a complex bot right there...
eom
might be a bot, but maybe he's been programmed to object to his name being used.

GW bots can be much simpler than other bots because it doesn't have to target any items. All it has to do is cover X ground using the <;> key to select items.

Bots ? An iMonk is pretty easy to run, but it isnt that easy. It would take a pretty complicated bot/macro to accomplish a farming run. It just doesnt make sense. Until I see hard proof of the existence of iMonk bots I'm going to assume these people just arent very talkative.

this is because they take turns perfectly because its the most efficient way of getting to the exit, stand at the turn before the stairs and watch them all, you can tell which are people and which arent.
Sister Spice
So did you send them an invite and they accepted?
or did they randomly invite you?
the mind boggles

I've sent invite to some monks and they accepted. When we get outside some will go "?" and map back. Others will tell me to "go" as in go die. Others let me follow them, (very few), and pick up loot lol. I eventually stopped this because I was feeling guilty and I made my own 55 so I didnt need to follow them anyway.
Nevin
Some people don't talk.. If I join a group and everyone talking sounds stupid in my opinion, I won't talk. The amount of people who ACTUALLY bot is very low.

I could write the paramateres right now...the code would take a while longer I admit but it's a matter of interface more then anything as the solution is already known.

I'm willing to venture a guess and say that a good number of these monks are sweatshop farmers and not bots...or sweatshop farmers that are using bots.
I stood near the ramp and sent out random invites to some of the monks (overall, about half were rejected - either bots or farmers that don't want to be disturbed?) and chatted up a few of them in broken Mandarin - "ni hao ma?" I actually got actual responses from most.
Maybe the farmers look over several computers at once and interact only when something odd happens?

Blocked them? How? Isn't blocking someone at outposts impossible as chars are transparent?
Kool Pajamas
oooh, we should so all do that. lol

I just tried it and they go right through me.
d4nowar
They go right though you. The bot stopped by no action of yours.
Sagius Truthbarron
It obviously wasn't a bot. Sometimes farmers will group you for no appearent reason, get you killed and map back. They do it to me all the time. Obviously a bot wouldn't know to leave the district, and certainly wouldn't have left loot behind, and obviously wouldn't have mapped back.
Ranger Rog
Edit. I should read the whole thread before posting.
Gildor Took
how do you accidentally invite?

Just one badly spawned Rockshot Devourer is enough to ruin a run for someone who doesnt know what he's doing. I cant see how a bot would be able to accomplish that.
