Level Cap...

I was just wondering if anyone knew if they were going to get rid of the Level cap, so that we could level up more than just 20...?

Not from what i've read.

Let me just ask, why would you want to level higher than 20?

Most likely they are upping it for the expansions that they will release. They wouldnt be any fun if you had to play through an entire expansion without gaining a single level :P

well they wont "get rid of it" but there are rumors that they might increase it in future expansions. Meaning it'll be a while before they do. Until then, relax and enjoy yourself. Level 20 is just the beginning you know. lol thats a cliche now for me.

Anyway, aim at getting all your elite skills if you're already lv.20. That should take up a whole bunch of your time and the rewards are great.

Im not worried about it right now, as of right now im a level 5 w/n but I was just talking to a few WoW fans and they say that the cap really sucks....

Don't listen to them Warcraft fans, they don't know what they're missing.

There are no plans to ever raise the caps and the latest polls say it's not favored. If the cap was raised it would defeat the purpose of the game and might even ruin the balance we all love.

If I was president I would ban all grind in video games, it's terribly hurts children's mind. I experienced first hand with FINAL FANTASY XI ONLINE, I now regret ever going into such a menacing world.

heh, WoW? nah man the 20 cap is perfect; at least for the content that was released. Sure you can make 20 easily enough but this is one of those rare games where content matters more then level. Theres a TON of stuff to do; so much so that it doesnt matter when or if you reach 20. How many other MMO's out there can garuntee you content and fun stuff to do even after hitting thier level cap of 60, 70, 80 whatever?

Sure, some of us wouldnt mind a cap of 30, or 40, but seriously consider the game mechanics, trust me; 20's fine. They raise that and thier gonna need to seriously rebalance stuff; especially on the PvP end of things.

I believe the level cap of 20 is way to low..........even if you are casual gamers......by the time you reach 'The Amonao Oasis' majority of people would be 20.......they should raise it to at least 30 or even 40.......to keep people playing the game........there's nothing really to do after you finished the story mode

That in itself is quite a contradiction. Not to mention there is quite a ways to go and many things to do between when you reach level 20 and when you finish story mode... How many games do you grind more levels AFTER you've finished story mode anyway? Nothing to do? If you've completed everything in the game and don't like/played out PvP, then you should pretty much be done with the game, right?... Giving you an extra 20 levels to raise after that point isn't going to help that much, or anything much for that matter.

There are plenty of other threads on this.... and as said in practically all of them and on the official site the cap of 20 is to provide accessibility and allow everyone to be a pretty much level footing in a reasonable amount of time.

You've got to break out of the 'level is king' thinking and come around to playing because it's fun. If level is the only thing driving you why do you continue to play?

leveling is part of the rewards in playing the game. you want to acheive a goal and obtain rewards. if you play for countless hours and are stuck at 20 where is the reward for all the hard work?

It comes in the form of the unlockable items and such for PvP.

If you bought this game to lvl up in story mode I think you should really be rethinking your purchase of the game.

Thats a very daft thing to say!
First of all I am all for the lev 20 lock but people do buy this game for the PvE and story mode. The whole reason why Arenanet increased the PvE content a HUGE amount was that they understand this. - Don't be stupid and ignore over half of the players in the game.

Now then, that said. To the OP.
Lev 20 cap is a wierd thing to say as this actually only applies to your +20 hp's a level. That is the only thing that stops right off the bat.
You can gain an extra 30 ability points from missions. So you could call the cap lev 23 if you really wanted.
But then after you have maxed out the ability points you can still gain 1 Skill point a level (you still gain xp and level after 20) until you have 200 skill points.
So I guess you could say the levels are:

Max Character Level 200. (Skill points)
Max Ability Level 23
Max HP Level 20

How is it a draft thing to say? They added more PVE yes but the game is still a PVP centric game. If you bought the game for PVE then you made a bad choice in your purchase.

Please someone remove him before I have to stab him
Not going to go down this whole beta argument again. It's been done to death too many times.
The game is a great PvE game. Infact one of the best ever on the market.
I love PvP and PvE and refuse to get into either camp and yell rah! rah! the other side sux and you wasted your money -loozer!!!
It's good at doing both. The fact we all have a game that is good at both is a wonderful thing these days!

Anyway, this is off topic. The level cap is 20 or 200, depends on if that is what gives you your goal in the game!

Incorrect, there is plenty of PvE content. I can attest to this since i dont play PvP very often, in fact MOST of my time is spent on PvE. In fact if you want to make any kind of a custom PvP character, you have to play PvE to do it.

PvE players have made a huge home here. The debates on weather content should be made unlockable or not for the PvP only players attest to this. You can easily enjoy only the PvE aspect of this game.

When compared to other games of this nature the PVE in this game ends rather quickly. If you want to bring up story as it is right now the story is really messed up. If you accidently go around a mission or two you just end up really confused not to mention talking to some NPC early will make them reveal thing that haven't even happened yet. My first character I made I did the first two missions in Kryta so I was all friendly with the White Mantle. After getting lost somewhere I end up walking from Druid Overlook to ventari and all the sudden the white mantle starts attacking me hmm.... . Sure this game has ok PVE but it doesn't really shine that much compared to other games that have a main purpose of PVE.

How does this add to anything? If anything it goes against what you say. It shows that some people rather get to the core of what the game is about instead of having to go through a fairly good but short and not great PVE.

I'm not making comparisons of any kind to other games, it's a simple statement that there is plenty for the PvE player to do. Period. With further expansions this will expand to include even more, so while it may not seem much to you right now it might be enough for you later.

It's not an argument or a debate without someone to argue or debate with. Since that particular debate is a hot topic with both sides equally hot over it; it contributes very heavily to my point.

I forget. Really. I don't know.

Mo/

If they raise the cap to lvl 25 people are gonna say, "Why is the cap so low why don't they raise it?" They raise is to 35 people will say, "Why is the cap so low. Why don't they raise it?" they raise it to 60 people will say, "Man they need to raise it just a little more." They raise it to 100, "They should go for 120." They raise it to 300, "It still ain't enough it should be at least 500."

In other words, people who want higher caps are interested in grinding. Go play WoW or Everquest if you want to grind.

It truely amazes me sometimes. Human territorialism. People need to feel that there way is the right way and everyone else does not have the right to feel good about something in a different way!

To focus an argument on something that two sides enjoy, with the sole goal to make one side wish they had 'never bought the game' or are 'wasting their money' is just amazingly daft!

So what if you win? So what if you manage to get all the non-PvP players to agree that this is a waste of money and that they will not buy any more expansions?
The sales will fall through the fall. ArenaNet will drop the game after 1 expansion and your lovely PvP world becomes history as we all move onto the next game!
High sales = Shareholders and Businessmen will want to make more. More = we all get lots of good stuff. The PvE players who love this game need the PvP players and visa versa.
If you want to FIGHT for anything, fight to make both parts as good as possible and please both camps. That way you can be sure that expansions and Guild Wars 2 (3,4...) will be made in the future!

And we are now WAYYYY OFF TOPIC!

Im not fully against you repins. If you bought GW's soly to level up, you certainly need to rethink what game your playing, since you can hit the lv 20 cap easily, but to say: "If you bought the game for PVE then you made a bad choice in your purchase";

thats like saying PvE isnt worthwhile, and to that I have to protest. Since people do play the PvE aspect of it only, it just isnt right to state that its worthless. This is the only game I know of that strikes a perfect medium between PvP and PvE. I'm the kind of player that absolutly hates PvP in an MMO, I just dont feel it should have a place in such a game; GW's changed that biased point of view for me. I do enjoy the PvP game; on GW's and on GW's alone.

I'm just asking you to be a little more open minded is all.
