question about weapon req

My Warrior wields Victo's Axe, which is req 9. However, he doesn't get the max damage unless his Axe Mastery is set all the way up. And yet a weapon is more valuable if it has a lower req.

My ranger carries a req 12 bow, though his Marksmanship is on 16. the bow would not be worth much because of high req, yet it is at least as powerful as a low req bow.

It seems the req of a weapon is only important in the early stages of the game, when your character is struggling to get enough points to carry a good weapon. An ascended character never has to think about it, and why would anyone carry only enough attribute points to fulfill the requirement of the weapon?

Am I missing something here?

People like low req weapons for farming. That is the only reason they go for so much.

if you only need 7 markmanship for your bow and say you are using a cripshot build, since cripshot is unrelated, you can put your points elsewhere

People also buy low requirement weapons for it's rarity and perfection. Nobody who is serious about using their sword would set Swordsmanship at only 7, but prices of req. 7 swords are through the roof because they are uncommon.

Your damage does increase as your attribute for that weapon goes up. The requirement is the absolute minimum you need to do the weapon's base damage.

req 8 = bow min for max dmg with max dmg mod

req 7 swords with a good dmg mod = very rare

you do crap damage until you meet dmg req. then you do same dmg all the way up but with a higher chance of crit...hence the appearence of doing more damage

SEARCH...the info is so off

Okay, I admit I didnt know the min req for bows. I dont care, I would go for a 13 marks if I played a ranger and had one available.

But you are completely wrong about your next point.

True, infact you deal the same as a starter weapon.

You do get a higher chance of crit.
You also do more damage with each point in the attribute. (THIS DOES NOT DEPEND ON THE WEAPON REQ.)

R/Me

1. People want perfect
2. It allows for better use by low-level chars, should they make more
3. It allows for more build flexibility
4. Some are under the mistaken impression that you do more damage the bigger the gap is between your attribute and your weapon requirement.

starter weapon = crap damage maybe I didn't specify what but I wasn't wrong there

the last part I will admit I may be wrong but I swear there was a couple threads about this that said otherwise...

Ok now I'm just really confused because I swear it was Ensign that was the poster of the counter point...

can a mod/old timer do a real quick reply...i'm gonna skip taking my own advice and searching as I really don't care because I know for sure 16 weapon is what is agreed apon, for now, as the best dmg output reguardless

Im sorry if I came off as rude (I reread my post and the capitals and my tone might have come off as such) but I really just meant to get the right info across to new players.

And Ensign made the list I posted along with the article in the link.

Yes, you need 16 in your weapon attribute to do maximum damage.
