Howdy,
Just wondering if anyone has any idea why the price of superior vigor runes has dropped as much as it has. The last time I looked at it, it was hovering around 65 plat. Now it's down to 30.
Any ideas?
I have a rune. Should I hold onto it for Factions with the idea that the influx of new players will boost rune prices?
What happened to the price of Superior Vigor?

well i think the main reason is that more players = more stuff like vigors on the market.. not to mention the fact that everyone and there mom knows how to ettin farm..but i would sell that thing now b4 the price goes down even farther.. personnally me im hopeing for the price reset i have heard happend a while back to happen again.. then im gonna have a feild day

More people are selling the runes to the traders which lower the prices since more superior vigor runes are in the market.

What i think happened is that it went down to a more reasonable price.

It is finally going back to where it should be. There is no reason for Sup Vig to be at 75k +.
Hold onto yours until you get a enw set of armor. It will do mroe good on your character than at the merchant.

As for ectos, the drop rate is very low, I agree, but don't forget the sheer number of people farming there. I think that Tombs had at least some influence in the price drop because of that.

i think its because people are not making as many new characters and are not buying more armor sets lately more then over ettin farming.
when chapter 2 comes out, sup vigors and sup absorbs are gonna go back to normal, or so i hope

Also dyes. Save yer dyes because their prices will boost up pretty far as well for the same reason. At the same time, if you want to buy a sup vigor or some dyes for your chars, I suggest you do it before Factions is released.

Glad I sucked ettins dry 3 months before they got popular. The drop rate has changed dramaticly. I used to be able to pull 2-3 golds per run on my 1000+ hour account. After 2 months it still did not change.
Got a new account and did them to unlock runes about a month ago. Took me 4-5 runs just to get 1 gold and it was a major. I feel so bad for new players.

I can still get 1 gold per run off Ettins usually, but again...its 99% of the time a major rune, or if its sup - its a Mesmer sup.
When Ettins FIRST got some attention to them (like that week) my first got a Sup Abs. from going on 1 run of ettins, and I got a Sup Vigor from 2-3 runs (and a sup divine favor also).

I still have plain old major vigor runes on all my characters, because I don't think the extra 9 HP is even close to worth the extra 30K or whatever it is.
If I were a crazy farmer with crazy time and money on my hands, then maybe I'd buy sup vigor runes just for the hell of it, but I don't have the kind of time and money (4 sup vigor runes for my 4 characters = ~120K, which is insane for what you're getting in return).

Hi I recently got 2 sup absortions, 1 monk, and 1 rit sup runes in 2 days in factions. Thought this was very lucky, however the runes had gone down LOADS since I last looked e.g. absortion is now like 15k and monk sub runes are about 4 (which is annoying cause i bouhgt mine for my monk 12k each). So what do you think i should do, sell now before they go lower, or keep in case they go back up again?

Superior absorbtion is at 16k and superior vigor is 33k.
This drop happened gradually after anet's last major update. Now vigor hasn't dropped nearly as much as absortion has but I think that's just because of factions. Everyone wants the best for their new characters and since vogor can be used by everyone there is still a strong demand for it. Once people max out their factions characters we will soon see the price of the vigor drop like the absorbtion did.
Now the update put out by anet made three influencing factors.
1. All rare armors will be superior runes.
2. Increased the drop rate of superor absorbtion and vigor
3. Increased the drop rate of rare items throughout tyria (pre faction release update)
Now it could be that when they increased the drop rate of vigors and absorbtion they changed it so absorbtion drops more often then vigor. Maybe the change for vigor wasn't successfull implamented. Those too could be facters as to why the price changed so dramatically for the absorbtion and not for the vigor but I hope not. I would like to see the price of superior vigors match the price for absorbtion and the only way that can happen is if the reason the price is still as high as it is is because of all the newly created characters.

I was so happy yesterday when I got my first sup absorb drop (not even ettin farming, but a mission / quest in Factions). Then I check the price. Oh well, still a good chunk of gold though.

I personally look forward to seeing the prices continue to drop as if they do I may actually get my hands on one or if I'm really lucky two Superior Vigors. That of course being because I don't spend hours upon hours farming...

I had a Sup Vigor dropped for me once, but it was during FPE, and the account was temporary........ pity.
