The Griffon Farmer - The end of threads

Sticky Me Please:
We need a Map for Griffons outside of Agugury...both locations North and West gate
I am posting another "complete" W/X guide. As the title states this is for Griffon farming. I know that most of the frequent posters here get tired of reviewing the same builds over and over. So this is an attempt at getting every viable option in one shot.
So you want to be a Griffon Farmer.
With a little knowledge picked up here at guildwarsguru you can maximize your effectiveness and improve on your tactics for each successful run. I am going to give you a compilation of knowledge that has all been gained by reading this forum. If you are hoping for secretly guarded knowledge let me inform you know that you can stop reading. Everything I am about to share you can be read in multiple posts on this forum and I will give credit where credit is due. This is a guide for Griffon farming but I will also address some general farming topics that can be applied anywhere.
Lets Talk Armor:
Hit Locations:
• Head - 12.5% of physical attacks (this goes up if the enemy is on higher ground than you.)
• Chest - 37.5% of physical attacks, as well as all direct damage spells.
• Hands/Feet - 12.5% of physical attacks (each)
• Legs - 25% of physical attacks.
Boots
I would go buy a set of either knights or Ascalon boots. The reason is that you get a -2 universal damage reduction from them.
Leggings
I am partial to Gladiators when I farm for the energy bonus it gives. It isn’t much but every little bit counts. Plate and Wyvern offer a higher armor rating (85AL + 10 AL vs. Physical) but are not needed.
Hauberk
Once again Gladiators is the best choice here for the added energy. Plate and Wyvern offer a higher armor rating (85AL + 10 AL vs. Physical) but are not needed.
Gauntlets
I prefer the Ascalon here also simply for looks.
Helm
My choice her is the Executioner’s Helm for the +1 Axe Mastery. The Tactician’s or Ascalon Helm (+1 tactics) and the Brute’s / Plate / Wyvern Helm (+1 Strength) are also viable options.
Shields
There are so many shields to choose from. Unlike armor there is not one perfect shield. Many players have many different reasons for using a specific shield when farming with each build. Some possible shields are:
-2 stance w/strength req
-2 stance w/modifiers i.e. reduces blind/poison/crippled
-2 stance, -3 hexed
-2 stance, -2 enchanted
-2 stance, -2 hexed
-2 damage +45 health while enchanted
-2 damage +45 health wile hexed (collectors)
-2 damage +45 health while in stance (collectors)

Quote:
(requires 5 ancient eyes)Armor +12 (req. 8 Tactics)
Health +45 (while enchanted)
Received damage -2 (while enchanted)
Weapons:
1. I have a +5 weapon for a high energy setup. There are 2 different +5 energy weapons in this game. There is he HoD sword….little expensive, and there is a +5 energy wand that a collector right outside Nolani Academy has. The wand has 0 req. for the energy to be useful. The wand is a 5 req for fire magic which does not need to be met for the energy to be useful. If you go this way you have just picked up 23 energy I think total….8 for the gladiators and 15 on the wpn set.
2. The popular choice is +5 or +7 Defense modification. You could also use any + health axe or sword.
3. I also like the Zealous or Vamperic modifications. There are others that are acceptable in certain areas if you want to be versatile. Such modifications are Swordsmanship +1, Barbed, or Furious.
Damage Reduction
Now let’s talk about damage reduction. This is a highly misunderstood subject and it shouldn’t be. Your goal as a farmer is to have the highest consistent damage reduction possible without compromising your build or skill list.

I think the max attainable dmg reduction = 10
shield ===== -2(st) -3(hexed)
knights/ascalon==== -2(always)
Absorption= -3(vs attacks) Actual Max is -11 as pointed out by Murder In China and Ubermancer later in the same thread but most farmers will never use that wand.

While armor is location specific, absorption is not. The -3 damage you get from a Superior Absorption rune is going to apply to hits on *every* location, whether the rune itself is in your chestpiece or your boots. The same goes for the -2 damage that a piece of Knights / Ascalon armor gives you - it's a universal bonus that applies to all hit locations.
Attacks still hit particular locations, and it's very noticible when an unarmored site takes the blow. When I'm standing in a Firestorm with full pyromancer's armor, it's obvious when I get a headshot - I take 24 damage instead of 18. The armor level of a hit location is still the basis of all future calculations. =)
Armor does not affect the chance to hit a target. That's always 100% unless there's a buff, debuff, or other effect forcing otherwise. Armor is simply damage reduction on blows that do hit.
The trick is to not think of 'reduces damage' as a location specific modifier. As far as I can tell the only mods that can be location specific are armor altering ones. Think of a Superior Absorption or the Knight's bonus the same way you would the health boost from a vigor rune, or the +1 to an attribute from your hat, or even +armor from a weapon upgrade. It's universal, and applied after armor.
Shields are conditional armor based upon facing - it adds its armor bonus to any attack that comes from 'in front', regardless of hit location. Just what 'in front' translates to in game, I'm not sure.
Peace,
-CxE ATTRIBS
The below setup is what I consider the overall popular choice. This does not imply that it is the only choice. The distribution depends on your skill choice which we will get to in a minute. Most prefer 8 in healing for mending but some choose not to use mending. The most important attributes are Tactics, Strength, and Weapon because those effect damage output and evasion or reduction.
Typical points without runes
Healing = 8
Strength = 9 (+3 sup = 12)
Tactics = 11 (+3 sup = 14)
Weapon = 8 (+3 sup = 11)
The attributes should be buffed with your choice of minor, major, or superior runes of strength and tactics. With the above base you have 1 attribute point left in reservation if you have the full 200 attribute points. If you leave out mending you will pick back up 37 (total with the 1 remaining 38) to redistribute. The attributes should be changed based on your build. For example if you are going to use a build for a W/Mo with Shield of Judgment then you need smiting and probably strength for Dolyak Signet. If you do not understand point distribution and how it works then you should start to study that and leave the farming for later.
SKILLS
This is one of the most debated topics among farmers throughout the hallowed land of Tyria. I am going to provide you with multiple W/X options. The W/Mo is time tested and in my opinion the best option. Just know that it is not the only option that works and changing your second profession is sometimes necessary depending on what you are farming. Here is a link to a good start on attribute research. http://www.guildwarsguru.com/content...tion-id270.php
Here is the Warrior Core Skill Build:
I have put stars by the more popular choices.
Heal Sig*
Bonnetti’s Defense*
Gladiator’s Defense* {E}
If anyone disagrees with that then they are in the extreme minority. That is not to say it can't be done with other skills. When picking your remaining skills consider healing and damage output as well as evasion if needed.
Here are your other options from the warrior profession:
Cyclone Axe*
Sprint
Executioners Strike
Dismember
Sever Artery
Gash
Hundred Blades {E}
Dolyak Signet*
Shield Stance
Watch Yourself!
Flurry
There are too many to list. Above are some popular choices. Stick to the *skills if you are new to farming and you will be fine. Once you have them mastered start to play with your choice and build until you find what you like best.
Here are your secondary class choices:
The monk skills seem to be a matter of preference though some choices are better than others. I do not recommend them all personally but you should give everything a try to find out what fits your style.
Monk Skill Choices:
Mending*
Healing Breeze*
Live Vicariously*
Balthazar’s Spirit
Shielding Hands
Shield of Judgment {E}
Vigorous Spirit
Watchful Spirit*
Zealots Fire
Healing Hands
You want to keep in mind that the less you have to heal the faster you will kill.
Ranger Choices:
Edge of Extinction
Apply Poison
Quote: Originally Posted by dont feel no pain Edge of Extinction* = u can drop eoe while your fighting (not they wont attack it) and then when they drop they drop much faster. Ele choices:

Crystal Wave
Armor of Earth

Tainted Flesh
Corpse Explosion
Mes choices:
Physical Resistance
Now that we have all of our gear and skills figured out how do we actually farm Griffons?
The most popular farming location can be found outside of Augury Rock’s West exit. I will leave you with some of the better guides with build descriptions below. Have fun and I hope you enjoy your farming experience. The 1st quote is almost exactly what I use. It is fast, easy, and requires very little experience to use effectively.
Quote: Originally Posted by axe You only need 2 spells to keep your health up

Live Vicariously at 8HP per hit
I use a vamp axe, but thats just for speed (extra 3 damage a hit)
Bonnetis for energy and to reduce damage
Glads D. with 16 tactics (I have a shield with +1 tactics so 20% of the time my tactics is at 17 which does 39 damage per block and you gain 1 additional second out of Glads D)
Cyclone Axe (damage dealing and healing)
So those are the required skills in my mind for a W/Mo farmer the rest is just preference. So the build I use:
Exocutioners Strike (Choice slot)
Penetrating Blow (choice)
Sprint/Disrupting Chop (choice I take sprint if I want to farm faster, Dis. Chop if I want to kill the monk boss, you can take anything you want really)
Cyclone Axe (required)
Bonnetis (required)
Glads D (required)
Live Vic. (required)
Mending (required)
Equipment (this is my preference)
I use a Vampiric Battlepick of Defense
14^50 (15 while enchanted would be better)
Vamp 3-1
Armor +5
Shield
-2 while enchanted (you really should have a shield with this mod for farming)
2nd mod is better mine is Tactics +1 20%
Ascalon Helm (+1 tactics and red. damage from attacks) The rest is Gladiators.
The build is pretty fast, and very easy to run. Quote: Originally Posted by WolflordUlrik My build is w/n with axe.

Again 13 tact 12 curses 10strength remainder in axe.
Shield stance gets you all the heal you need and lets you SS and MOP w/o much rockshot trouble and Bonnettis gives you energy regen and 1 heal.
SS a griff, turn and MOP a griff and start attacking another griffon to build addren. Now you have a cyclone axe that does +34dmg. Don't attack the mop'd griffon and SS whenever you have the energy. you can drop a group (of any size) in 25 sec or less.
In 20 secs: An SS'd griff will attack 15+times(berzerk stance) SS does 29 each attack so they all take 435 damage from one SS in 20secs + 4 cyclone axes = 136 (only 4 beacuse you need heal time as well)
435+136=571dmg with only one ss.
Wammo builds are too slow becuase they are all defense, and zealots fire does greatly reduced damage vs griffons Quote: Originally Posted by Sk8tborderx The build I use is this:

This build works for griffons/minotaurs/trolls/tundra giants/hydras. I also have a shedload of near perfect wepons and a few perfects also and i will hopefully make a fortune selling them in the forums.
Fisrt of all a picture paints a thourand words so here is my build, attributes and equipment laid bare for all to see. I wont discuss the skills etc beacuse it could take all day and if you dont know you will never be out of energy because of balthazars, or you will heal for +3+8 per hit with vicariously each enemy each hit (can be over 200hp per cyclone) or to cancel vicariously after a battle because of the 3 enchantments causeing -1 energy degen then you should wait until your experienced enough before trying this.

Next is the build in action and the route to take.

you should only fight twice per run (once at the bend I have shown on the map just right of the green arrow and one at the end where the green arrow is) so thats groups of 3 mobs first and 5-6 mobs second. you have to stand on the hill at the second lot so that the minatours run into you while fighting as you can see above Im fighting over 20 enemies with ease.
Run our of augury and cast mending (you have a vamp axe remember) then run to the first griffons to the south but before herding them together you should be at full regen so cast balthazars and proceed (you have 16 energy at this point). Once you have 3 groups together cast glads, then vicariously then breeze (if you need to) then cyclone and bonettis. Repeat with cyclone and bonettis until glads is active then cast glads and cyclone but do not cast bonettis until glads has run out otherwise you will cancel it so just cyclone for the 11 seconds. if you see a rockshot then use sprint to escape otherwise they will interupt you and you die. Allways attack the enemy with most hp normaly and this includes featherfist if he appears so they all die at the same rate so you will be switching targets often...you dont want to be fighting a few griffons at the end....simple
Most important is to allways be in a stance, after each cyclone use bonettis straight away I cant stress this enough.
Let me know if this has helped you and I hope you can use this to make the sort of cash I have recently.
I have recently uploaded a movie..sorry for quality, but its only 7MB and you can get the idea....take a look

well thats it have fun

I am glad you guys enjoyed the video.
The exact skill setup is as psycore said...
1- Bonnetti's
2- Cyclone Axe
3- Vigorous Spirit
4- Zealot's Fire
5- Healing Breeze
6- Healing Hands
7- Live Vicariously
8- Mending
Skill setup... I am not 100% sure on this but I believe this is a fair approximation. Will have to check when I get home.
9 Healing
8 Smiting
12 Strength
12 Axe Mastery
4 Tactics
Gear
I have a total of neg 5 damage received while enchanted, from Sup Absorb and my Shield, as well as quite a bit of health, +67 I think, from my axe grip and shield for the initial run/gather. I switch up my axe right before engaging which has a 3:1 vampiric haft for the added cyclone regen.
The Run
This build took me a lot of tweaking to finally get perfected and I still sometimes fail when attempting to take the 25-30 Minos/Griffons from a full spawn run. The timing of the skills is absolutely paramount as is their setup in conjuction with the mobbing you receive when you have finally gathered them.
I throw up mending early just so I can get around and stay alive. The constant regen is absolutely essential. On a troll run you don't need it as much and can use a substitute like Balthazar's but the energy gain it gives is fairly useless since you should never really need any once you actually engage.
The key to this entire build is healing hands. The weapons I use are a little grainy and I apologize, couldn't find a compression utility that preserved the image well enough to display what I wanted to show without it being a huge file. I have a 14% while enchanted axe with a 20% enchanting grip that really makes things a whole lot easier. Once you engage you immediately throw up Healing Hands and then in quick succession Zealot's Fire and Vigorous Spirit. By this time your Bonnetti's should be ready and after you throw it up, being careful not to let it be overwritten by a spell, your energy should be instantly 20. Then you throw up your second enchantment, Live Vicariously, immediately followed by Healing Breeze and Bonnetti's again. Now you have to survive purely from the Cyclone Axe regen, which is HUGE btw, and Bonnetti's , until Healing Hands is up again and you can throw up your safety net and rebuff.
Again, this takes a LOT of patience to get down exactly and I am sure there are alternate methods that could be used. Live Vicariously was a very late addition to this build and you could possibly substitute another spell that suits you better. I would be very interested to see if a Monk could do this run. The damage early on would seem to me to be too much for the Monk armor and they don't have a insta cast AE skill like Cyclone either. I am sure something could be figured out though.
The Rockshot Devourers, the crabs, can be very annoying with their distracting shot and if they are lucky enough to take out an essential skill like Cyclone or Healing Hands then you are sunk. However, if you time the skills correctly you shouldn't have too much of an issue. They only fire their Distraction shot when/if you cast a spell and most of the ones I was using are pretty nearly instant cast. As with Trolls, just be careful and pace you skills.
I have tried different variants of this build with the trolls near Droknar's and it works very well. I just find them to be far less fun. You just run into the cave, kill em all in about 30 seconds, grab the chests, and then rinse and repeat. There is hardly any "danger" really unless they get luck with Distracting Chop. Oh and did I mention that their drops are absolutely terrible? I don't like swimming in Raven Staffs and Mountain Troll Tusks.
As for the drops, well it used to be a lot better, but gold items do drop and like Trolls the vast quantity of white items is a good enough cash flow for most anyone. Be careful though, killing that many things at once with a Full Screen Text Explosion like you see in the video is HIGHLY addicting. It takes a very long time to get old.
Again, I am glad you guys like the video. Quote: Originally Posted by dont feel no pain axe

your armor
executioners helm with suprior axe mastery
gladitors chest peice with major/suprior absorbtion
knights arms with major/suprior vigor
gladiators legging with suprior tactics
knights boots with minor...whatever
Skills
cyclone axe (your healing/secondary damage output)
bonneti's defence (will always be on expectp in between skills)
watchyourself (if it is charged do not instantly click , isnted click on cyclone axe which has about a 1 second attack speed and click watch yourself before your cyclone axe hits the enimies giving u a free watchyourself everytime with no cost)
executioners strike this is for the warrior griff boss , u may use it when u can fit it in
gladiators defence{elite} this will be your primary damage output , and also your safe zone , u can spam cyclone axe and recast vigerous spirit in this and it will not cancel , do not put bonneti;s defence on since it would cancel it out , but make sure u've got bonnetis charge for when it ends and then continue. (can be capped in dragons lair , facet of strength (boss of last area)
vigerous spirit u should keep this up at all times , even though live vicously + the vamp mod will be enough healing there is nothing wrong with more

live vicously this has the exact same effect as vigerous spirit but with the advange of being constant keep on at all times (cast at the start)
mending o yes lol the invinsible mending hehehe

ok so there are the skills
step one)
leave augury rock and instanly cast mending + live vicously (with the 25 energy u have u will have 10+ energy left over) , begin to run ... go past the first rockshot and head up u should have 2-3 mintors on u now, and head left .... u should see a 2-3 more minators , stop in the sort of tightish path with the minos on you.
step two)
use the build for a little warm up , u will not need vigerous spirit here but u can if u want , use cyclone axe and when thats recharging make sure your always attacking one of the mino's , this will gain energy + adrenaline for executioners stike + watchyourself but more importantly bonnetis defefnce,
when bonnetis is charge use it and keep hitting a mino for energy gain through bonneti's(do not use cyclone at this moment cause it wil cancel bonneti's) when u are up to 25 energy use gladiators defence , now in these 11 secs on ladiators defence u will spam cyclone axe + exeuctioners stike , recast vigerous spirit (if u have used it) , and when glads ends repeat , oo yeah and when your about to kill them all use gladiators defnce or one cyclone axe after bonneti's so u still have a lot of energy left for the griff's.
step 3)
ok now all u have to do is gather as many griffons/minos as possible , i dont think u should get the griff monk boss involved because it will only slow your run)
once u have gathered enough (10+) (try to get as many as possible , we used to be able to gather all of them before the chasing patch and that was about 30-40 griff's , but now 20 is proabably all u can gather on normal spawns) , try not to let rockshots be on u when u stop to start the fight.
step 4)
once enough is gathered and your ahppy , stop and cast vigerous spirit before they have all caught up and battered the hell into you , by the time uve casted it there should be a lot around you , next skill would be cyclone axe instantly followed by bonneti's , now rmember pick a griffon to attack at all times with normal slashes for the 19 health u would be gaining through (vamp 3, vigerous spirit 8, live vicously 8 ), watchyoruself should be open , use the trick where u put it on during a cyclone axe and repeat , if u get used to this u should learn to fit in exeuctioners stike (not needed unelss there is a warrior boss) , repeat
cyclone axe
bonneti's
wathcyourself
cyclone axe
bonneti's
(glads if recharged)
..if u use glads
(glads on)
cyclone axe
cyclone axe
vigerous spirit
(glads ends)
bonneti's (striaght after)
cyclone axe.....back to pattern
once u have taken a few down your healing would have dropped but so would had the damage , your cyclone axe may not completly recharge bonneti's but its ok , it would be just like those minos u had earlier.
step 5)
pick up the loot , feel happy , do whatever u want

ok so that was the axe build , the sword build is definatly quite tasty
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ok attributes
10 healing
15 strength (+4)
13 tactics (+3)
ok again i do my setup with two suprior runes (-150 health)
your equiptment will be........
-2(stance) -2 (enchanted) 16 armor sheild
a furious sword of shelter
( the damage of the sword is not important since it will not be doing the damqge but yet be gaining adrenaline , and the +7 armor is quite a nice bonus)
your armor
platemail helm with suprior strength
gladitors chest peice with major/suprior absorbtion
knights arms with major/suprior vigor
gladiators legging with suprior tactics
knights boots with minor...whatever
flurry this will be on at all times in battle unless if you have gladiators defence on , it will make your healing + adrelaline gain go up by 33% in time)
riposte (this will be your secondary damage output ) spam it like a idiot
gladiators defence {elite} )this will be your priamry damage output) if its open for use , use it)
watch yourself (+20 armor is quite tasty , keep on always)
doylak sigit (with the 15 stregth this skill becomes infinte , its now +40 armor , last 20 secs , recharge 20 secs , keep it on at all times)
vigerous spirit this has to be on always in battle , it is +10 health on hits , this combined with live vicously and flurry is some seriously massive healing
live vicously same goes for above
balthazars spirit this is a god of a skills , if u got a lot of griffons bashing u will have infinite energy gain, + u will have a lot of bonus adrenaline gain for those tasty ripostes.
ok the steps
step 1)
leave augury rock and instanly cast balzars spirit + live vicously (with the 25 energy u have u will have 10+ energy left over) , begin to run ... go past the first rockshot and head up u should have 2-3 mintors on u now, and head left .... u should see a 2-3 more minators , stop in the sort of tightish path with the minos on you.
step 2)
ok u dont need vigerous spirit here so dont realy bother with it , put doylak sigit down and start using flurry , keep hitting a mino and keep flurry up get watchyourself on and maintain it , spam riposte and when u have high energy put gladiators defence on( u can keep spaming ripostes if you wish) , keep hittng the mino but dont use flurry cause it will cancel gladiators defence , once gladiators ends reapeat , its dead easy
always remember when your fighting keep these on at all times
flurry (except when gladiators defence is on)
watchyourself (+20 armor is tasty)
doylak sigit (+40 armor is even nicer)
vigerous spirit (+10 health on hits is nice)
balthazars spirit ( should be on from when u enter prohets path)
live vicously (same as above)
step 3)
ok now all u have to do is gather as many griffons/minos as possible , i dont think u should get the griff monk boss involved because it will only slow your run)
once u have gathered enough (10+) (try to get as many as possible , we used to be able to gather all of them before the chasing patch and that was about 30-40 griff's , but now 20 is proabably all u can gather on normal spawns)
step 4)
once uve gathered enough , stop , cast cigerous spirit , attack nearest griffon , and keep on that enimie unless if he dies , remember these must be up at all times
flurry
watchyourself
doylak sigit
vigerous spirit
the balzars spirit will be enough to keep u spaming flurry
use gladiators defence whenever you can and always remember , KEEP SLASHING , SHASHING = HEALING , ADRENALINE = RIPOSTES = THEY DEAD
should be easy for ya

enjoy There are many other builds that I could include but I am certain that the above will give you a good start to farming griffons. If you have additions I am open to adding more or removing/changing some. I would like to see this be the end of the "grade my w/x griffon farming build" threads.
Happy Hunting

If you would edit it out of your post that would be great. I gave you credit in the OP.
I am happy to see you putting out your build as I was looking for one from you and Racthoh but could not find a griffon build from either of you.
Thanks

Another thing for rangers: Apply Poison. Its great used with cyclone axe. 8 Griffons with an instant -5 (or was it -4) degen.. 8 dmg per second. I never thought of EOE on my W/R either, thanks for the info. :0

Do the rest of you want a sticky for griffone farming or not? I know you have to be as tired as I am of posting answers to the same questions over and over.

You'll be suprised on how many people demand people to give them guides on how to farm them.

My goal is to keep this a positive thread. If it goes negative we will get "closed" and not "sticky". I would not like to see that happen. Please save the negative comments no matter how much you agree with the above.

And sever artery and gash don't work like a charm on desert griffs, they cast I will survive for >>> regeneration ^_^

And sever artery and gash don't work like a charm on desert griffs, they cast I will survive for >>> regeneration ^_^ The U was for underline but I did not end it with /u so the b and /b did not work. Fixed....thanks. Sever Artery and Gash are there for other builds. I would never use them and that is why they are not stared. They are used by some....why? Maybe your right though this is a griffon farming thread. They are in one of the builds that I found while posting this thread. Maybe I should remove that build from the list. Anyone actually use that other than the OP?
NM...I removed the build that used them posted by Riplox. After reviewing the build I did not like it much. Sever Artery and Gash does however have a use. When I first started farming I used it for the devourers and the creatures in the beginning of Elonas (cant remember what they are called right now) where you go to farm minos. Bleeding kills them both quite fast. If you are using a sword build it works out that you have the extra slots to take them. They are not removed due to there being so many sword farmers.

Good job. About time someone took the time to collect all the information to stop the usual Griffon farming posts
Ideally it would be good to see a rating for each build with difficulty rating, that way any newcomers can choose something without too much trial and error. Also I still recommend builds with only permanent enchantments as you can tackle rockshot that usually ruin other builds that rely on casting while fighting.
STICKY THIS PLEASE!

Sad not to see the riposte/deady riposte/desperation blow combo not mentioned
7 tactics skills and 1 stregth ftw imo.
Well, there is a riposte/deadly riposte build but thats using mending and has 8 healing instead of 10 sword and a HoD sword (or victos)... its good for taking out the bosses - healer and war, and also casters/rockshoots, that dont hit you in melee.
also bump till the sticky...

Great job again Me NoFat.
Also, thank you for posting my build, I know a lot of people don't like axes and that is the fastest way to farm with a sword. (If anyone argues with that statement please PM me in-game so you can prove it).

I have just taken the time to read through all of these builds and it does strike me however that some are referring to farming 3-4 griffons while others anything up to 25. Its a shame there isnt anything rating the number of griffons you can farm with each build because the more enemies at one = quicker and more profitable farming and the number of enemies you can tackle at once is fundimental to farming. An example would be the post suggesting targeting a single griffon so that the last one runs in sooner...this is impossible with 5 groups as there is no way to know which griffons are from each group.
Perhaps something like the following would finish this post completely as you have done a fine job covering most other things already...
1 group = (build 1)
2 groups = (build 2)
3 groups = (build 3)
4 groups = (build 4)
5 groups = (build 4)
anyway its just a suggestion of the only thing missing

I will consider this. However the main goal is to provide many builds that can be tried and mastered. I did it this way so that every build will get attempted before anyone knew settles on one build. This way people learn what farmers choose. They then take that knowledge and can use it to farm other places.
Good Idea...thinking about how to make it without having everyone jump straight into the "Kill 50 Griffon" build before trying others out and gaining build knowledge.

I just wanted to chime in and say that it is still possible, if highly unlikely, to get almost every single Griffon/Minotaur on you at the same time when doing this run solo. 2-3 of the Minos right outside Augury won't follow you all the way there. No biggie. But just the other day I got all but 3 Griffs in the same pile. There's usually 1 group way farther NE than the rest of the Griffons, and they simply won't stick to you long enough to round up the rest of the gang. The rest can be done if you're really careful and do the run enough so that you can do it in your sleep.
If you're doing any Vigorous/Vicarious/Vampiric cyclone build then you're in heaven
At the end of the day I usually use the Cyclone/Glad's combo to do most of the work, just cause it's so incedibly reliable (Rockshots don't really matter at all if you cast your timed enchants under Glad's protection), but there's always the temptation to try something new. An almost 100% tactics build sounds very interesting for sure, and the Apply Poison + Cyclone thing is something I've thought about before.

well..its nice and all that this was made and i can see that plenty of time and effort went into this...but let this be a lesson to all of you griffon/troll/scarab/minotaurs/ettin farmers who have now brought with the newest update, the nerf of GRIFFONS.
yes, if you havent heard the griffons are NO MORE. now Me No Fat, lets work on a scarab farming build...but the monk scarab boss has mark of protection, so w/mo wont suit this new update.
Why dont you people solo warrior farm places that use some skill like FoW and the UW??
I myself used to farm griffons for about 30 mins just to make enough money to go back down into FoW and farm there

We do farm FoW and UW but skill is not needed after the build is found. Just knowlege of how to repeat the same thing over and over.

It's been nerfed. Look outside of Dunes of Despair and Destiny's Gorge. There's also a group near the Queen and another group near the collector that gives +45/-2 Stance shields.
