Why is this quest so difficult?
I Am A Sasquatch
I am a level 10 elementalist/necromancer. I have tried the quest to find someones daughter for piken square numerous times. Most recently i had a party of 10+ of 3 other party members..even 1 of them was half monk. We died. We tried again and we died. Am i weak? or is this quest just really difficult?

Depending on where she spawns it can be kind of hard. If you are having trouble just keep trying it by zoning out and coming back in untill she spawns in front of the big pyramid or if you have nolani on the bridge.

Its one of the more difficult quests early in the game. It is intended.
There is a follow-up to Althea's Ghost called Althea's Ashes. That baby is worth 2k. It is even harder.
These quests require patience, skill and an organized plan.

I suggest leaving it for a while. Advance through the game and come back later.

1) A full time monk (El/Mo are an OK substitute but they tend to fight instead of remember and heal)
A full time monk doesn't have much else to do besides heal his teammates (unless smiting which is rare).
2) Take along the healer henchman. She does a pretty decent job if the monsters don't rush right at her.
To use her well, don't aggro monsters when she is right next to you, or else they'll run straight at her.
My main char is a Mo/Me and I have 2 Mes skills (channeling and backfire). The rest are focused on healing. So during a mission I don't have the temptation of throwing spells at enemies and I watch my health bars.
A El/Mo has a huge temptation to toss powerful spells and forget to heal.

Yeah both quests for Althea are tough, but in my opinion some of the most fun quests to do with friends. LOTS of Charr to kill!!
Knowing that we can't be uber-good and can actually lose makes it quite exciting. Sometimes my friends and I place bets on who will be the last man standing, then have a group laugh when we all get killed! Lots of fun!!!

A party of lvl 12-14's will do better at this. 10's will be a very very difficult challenge but doable if you have a good team. I did it when i was 13 i believe. Still hard but more easily doable.

Yep, do the other quests you have first, then come back to this one. And again, take a full time player healing monk (they help alot).
Here is a hot tip... the 2000 xp you get for completing the followup mission (and good xp for this one too) is given to you as 2000 no matter what level you complete the quest. IF you wait until you are higher level... and I mean much higher if you can (15+), since the mission will always stay with you until you complete it... that 2k xp will really mean something at say lvl 16, where you need 10k to level, and all you have are 500 xp missions. PLUS it's easier and quicker to complete.

Another tip , which may or may not be as useful, but it happened to me. I actually managed to find Althea's Ghost, but right next to her was another quest with some Grawl General [lvl 10 surrounded by a zillion shamans] which i couldn't complete. I skipped the quest and did some of the 'primary missions' . Guess what, about 3 missions onwards you pop up at the other side of Diessa Lowlands with a MUCH shorter route directly there..so i ran there quickly finished all my diessa quests from that side with lvl 8 henchmen....[and i was lvl 10 at the time]
