I've been a soloholic since the official release of the game using mainly NPC's.
Partly because I hate waiting for groups and shouting, it's just quick and easy to get NPC's and head out when doing quests. I enjoy doing missions with real players, but questing is different. I find myself beginning to change more and more. I still use NPC's but if I happen to see groups doing the quest I need I will do it too. It's frustrating though when you get immature players who leave groups mid quest/mission or blame everyone. I've had more of those groups than others. But the thing about MMORPG's is to play with people from around the country/globe. Otherwise they could have just made the game single player.
Although I do get upset with 12 year old cry babies (and 18 year old babies too) I do find that missions are a lot more fun with real people. Just keep at it eventually you'll come across the right group of people and make better friends. Then you really dont have to spend a lot of extra time finding and meeting new people that have the potential to be the biggest babies.

Lol,
This thread reminds me of the first n00b I tried to help. They needed me for a minor task, and then decided to go on their way. I said sure, but just wanted to know if you would like any assistance, esp since I had the Rez signet. To which they replied, " No, I never die."
The punchline is that they were first level. I felt like saying yeah, but you will soon enough, but held my peace and said goodbye.
