people keep talking of ascension, but what is that?

Ascension is when you get to the point of being able to enter the Hall of Heros. It's a series of missions that are a kind of "right of passage". Most of the missions are generally pretty hard (though some people feel the need to boast how easy it was for them). It's definately a period where people really have to learn teamwork.
