I recently tried to see how low I could go to kill the doppleganger and get to the point of ascension.. I tried fighting him once but decided I'd need more sacrifice skills (so that he kills himself) and there you have it. Ascended from level 5 - 13.

try ascending on a level 5 warior/ranger ( maybe it's not considered that hard but it was a tough job for me )
Oh yeah was it just me or does the trick with making the miror cast the nature rituals stops at 2 nat rits? Cause i took 3 and for some unknown reason he wouldn't cast all of them.

I know its been done before :P Got the idea off of another site lol. Just posted because I was bored and I wanted to show other necros that it can be easily done if they're having trouble with it.

Some of your chooses are pretty risky :\ Remember he doesn't copy your stats.
Blood Ritual if used early enough by him can actually prolong his life.
and some of your chooses are gotten technically post-desert so really shouldnt count in your victory speech lol.
But he is easy anyway - as long as you dont give him something really useful. I accidently left a non-sac skill on my bar once and its all he used basically, and I left ORder of Vamp on there once, and its all he used (I still won because I kited some of his wand attacks, but I survived with like 4 hp, and woulda died if he attacked once more before saccing himself).

o.o I actually just the other night beat my own dopply my first try with my necro using just 4 skills..though it probably only needed the 2..Awaken the blood, to increase the amount of life he sacs when he uses life sac skills, and Order of the vampire..I myself had also chillblains and arcane echo in there, the rest of my skillbar was empty. But pretty much, at the start of the match he went..Arcane echo>Awaken the blood>Order of the vampire..After he casted orders on himself, got him to nearly half health already and came after me with his l33t chaos axe..Just run circles around him until his order runs out, starting wailing on him with your weapon again, which mine was korvald's torment, and when he does OoV, just run again, and repeat. I was hitting on him with my weapon up close while he was casting arcane etc. in the beggining. I was level 16 when I did this. And I still got my bonus. So pretty much, Awaken the blood and Order of the vampire is all you need..arcane echo just makes him waist time if you like.

I'd expect the Dopple would actually kill himself, that'd be great, because that way you wouldn't get xp, and that way you could be lvl 11 after ascension 
Too bad, but I'm lvl 12 and ascended, and now it's time to get my FoW Armor ^^
