I have a 13-19 purple sword which requires 7 swordsmanship (i have 8)...i also have level 8 strength but i am only doing 13-16 damage?!?!?!?!

At my level (14) my mate says i should do more damage but im not...

can someone tell me if this is right?!?!?!

Everything uses armor... mobs, players, etc. MOST armor reduces your damage. Also, some weapons do elemental damage (like Ebon weapons do earth damage) and many things have resists to that too.

In general, you will almost never do the listed damage with just regular attacks, as it is rare to find something with zero armor.

And finally, your level has ZERO to do with adjusting damage up or down, except if you are very much higher than your enemy. Damage gets done as LISTED and THEN modifying up for skills used (and how many points you put into the skills focus you use), up for debuffing, and down for armor and buffs the enemy may use.
