This is a good ranger site with a popular trapping build listed, I did the ice imp farming
described here over the weekend and works very well, and very profittable with no running to far away places, ice imps tend to drop alot of gold, averaged over 5k per run,
usually one gold item every two runs.
When you make it to Ember camp light you can buy any regular skill there, have to get
elite from bosses, when you go on the Iron mines mission make sure to cap. Barrage
from Markis at the end, great skill.

I know there are some good trapper builds here, but the search seems to be down again atm...as for where to get traps, I know Healing Spring (technically a trap) is in Henge of Denravi....the others escape me for the moment [I usually use search when I need to know]...once you get to Ember Light Camp, you can get them all from the skill trainer there. Also, It's in the final missions that you can cap the {elite} Spike Trap.
Typically I go for the non-ViM trapper: Ra/Mo
16 Wilderness Survival (12+3sup+1mask)
13 Expertise (12+1min)
4 left over for a rainy day
Spike Trap {elite}
Barbed Trap
Flame Trap
Dust Trap
Whirling Defense
Dodge/Throw Dirt
Troll Ungent
Res Sig/Rebirth (PvP/PvE)
Gear: Fires in the East reward staff Modified For +5 energy on top of regular bonus and Warding (+7 armor vs. Ele dam)...With Druids Armor gives 50 energy...
Variations Include:
use of Healing Spring instead of Dodge/Throw dirt for monk support and healing clusters.
There's the ViM Trapper: Ra/Wa
shave a bit off of Wilderness and/or Expertise (+ the 4 points saved for a rainy day) to give yourself a bit in tactics to Make Victory is Mine! more effective...most seem to reccomend getting it at or near 7 in Tactics.
Victory is Mine (gives +5 energy and +30-40-ish health w/tactics 'round 7, for each condition nearby enemies are suffering...keeps energy and health good and high...
ViM {elite}
Barbed Trap
Flame Trap
Dust Trap
Throw Dirt (apply poison is an option when using a bow)
Whirling Defense
Troll Ungent
Res Sig
Another Variation Is the OS (oath shot {elite})Trapper:
adjust skills so you have a enough in marksmanship for Oath Shot to be effective.
Oath Shot {elite}
Dust Trap
Barbed Trap
Flame Trap
Whirling Defense
Trow Dirt/Dodge
Troll Ungent
Res Sig
The idea here is to trap and rapidly recharge your skills by using oath shot
In any of these builds Serpent's Quickness can be used instead of dodge, throw dirt, apply poison or healing sping to give quicker recharge times to your traps...your choice.
I tend to avoid using any skills outside Wilderness Survival and Expertise so I can maximize the attribute points...the disadvantage is that the Staff I use does about the same damage as an angry hummingbird...
I have used this as an offensive trapper by hitting Troll and Whirling def at the same time then running into a crowd and using Throw Dirt...while i'm harder to hit I drop all my traps...saving dust trap for last to add to blind duration...then hit Troll again as it is likely running out, then run away and recharge for another run...good times!
