I was turned onto GW this past BWE. I am absolutely hooked. I played for 12 hours straight on saturday (no joke) and reached level 9. Anyway, I've never been into RPGs of any sort, and I was wondering what else is out there? I've pre-ordered GW, now I need something to tide me over until launch. What games would you guys recommend that are similar to GW? Thanks for any help.

Ah yes, Fable! I do have an XBOX. I remember a friend of mine trying to get me to play Fable. I'll definitely give it a try. Thanks!

Heh, I've been trying to fill a gap in my RPG needs category after leaving EQ initially 2 1/2 years ago, then again last summer. I've tried many different RPG's and found that nothing really held me over. Now please don't misread this, I now despise EQ because of what its become, but I have been playing RPG's for about 12 years now since I was 13-14 (PnP with friends and Ultima Underworld(PC) back then) EQ did fulfill those needs as its become progressively harder to find other PnP'ers. I've tried CoH, Diablo 2, NWN, Morrowind, Heroes III and IV, and countless other variety of games, but nothing has come close until now. Guildwars, albeit not perfect, seems to me to appease my addiction. If there's any other game out there that lets you interact with others and incorporates all of these elements into it, then I havn't found it, and thats not from lack of trying.
Lol, after re-reading this, I'd like to clarify that gaming doesnt encompass my whole life, but it sure is a nice way to spend a couple hours here and there when I'm not watching Star Trek and painting Battletech miniatures ....

Fable and Morrowind yes. I'd also suggest perhaps Baldur's Gate, and Baldur's Gate 2, oldies but still goodies. Few games I've found have matched those two when it comes to plot.

Though not purely an RPG, the thief series could easilly fill the month till the game comes out. Deadly Shadows was awesome.

Nethack!
If it was for this gem games like morrowind or diablo wouldn't exist.

I don't know how singleplayer RPGs may be similar to GW. If you want to play RPGs, then i suggest Morrowind and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.

NetHack is too imba. Maybe someone likes to eat rats/corpses and die from a starvation, but that's definately not me.

Presumed missing...

Me/N

Since GuildWars is an online RPG, I doubt there can be a similar game within Single Player RPGs. Also, Fable can be finished in 7 hours playtime and Morrowind is, in my opinion, dull and empty. Knights of the Old Republic, Baldur's Gate 1 & II as well as Arx Fatalis, Gothic I & II, Quest For Glory 1 & 4 et cetera.

Fable sucked. The first Knights of the Old Republic was almost perfect. I'm playing through the second one now and while still a good game, it's nowhere near the perfection that the first game was.

I agree that the original KOTOR was a great game, probably one of the best I've ever played. But if you're looking for a game like Guild Wars I'd have to say that Neverwinter Nights is probably your best bet.
