Heres a quote from the website about the Backstage Pass Event at http://www.guildwars.com/events/cont...kstagepass.php:

Quote:
Eligibility (location): Entries will be accepted from residents of the United States (excluding the State of Rhode Island, and excluding Puerto Rico) and Canada (excluding Quebec) (Canadian residents will be required to answer an additional mathematical question in order to claim their prizes).
Read the last brackets.

I'm confused. Why do Canadian people need to answer a maths question to be able to clain their prizes?

I shouldn't really care since i'm from England but I don't see the point. Is it a Canadian law or something? I dunno.

Thats my 2p.

Yup. Pence not cents.

actually yes by law up here you do need to answer a skill testing question for anything you do win via a constest!

remember folk we dont get pinned for paying the taxes that may occur on said winnings.

by simply answering a skill testing question, the prize is not free as per the canadian laws that apply to goods and services.

an example of a skill testing question that you will see for prize winnings

18+14-5=_______

(this was taken from a coke i won from a grocery store)

so i hope that helps you americans out.

OK, so now we understand the Canadian gambling law/loophole, anyone care to comment on Rhode Island?

Or Puerto Rico?

What? You guys didn't know about Canada's law? There has to be a skill-testing question to claim your prize in a lottery/draw type contest. I think it has to do with some old stupid anti-gambling law (if you answer a skill-testing question, it's not gambling).

Oh, and Quebec has even more contorted contest laws. You see it all the time, "Contest valid for Canadian residents outside Quebec".
