Is this luck or is it just that I haven't played in awhile

Haven't played the game for about 6 weeks or so. So I decided to take my ranger into the "new" UW ,since we (USA) never seem to have favor.

So I find out this barrage pet build is hot, so I set up my solo bar and go in. First run got an ecto and Illyana Mirror. Not bad I guess. Re group and couple quitters so no joy. Then we have a group that makes about 5 or 6 straight runs to end. I got in those runs, Victo ax, another glob, a black dye, an ele Focus green (can't remember name I gave it away but the one with energy storage), a necro glove (gave that away too), an ogre knife, and something else. A green a run basically with an ecto and black dye for good measure.

Then I make a couple runs this afternoon, and I got ANOTHER ecto (one guy had 2 that run, we got 6 total for the group) then I got Illyana's staff.

So this last run we had some probelms a guy quit but we made it. I got Victos Bulwark AND the vamp bow on same run.

So in 9 times making it to end (in about 20 or so runs mostly with quitters early) I have gotten 10 greens, 3 of them really nice ones, 3 ectos, a black dye and a 30 HP axe haft I salvaged off a chest drop.

I have to call that a pretty good stretch of games. Plus it is kinda fun doing it. Because if people quit theyquit early, it isn't ike you go deep and everyone quits. You might lose a guy who runs out of time, but no biggie usually.

So when does the "farming" governer kick in? 20 runs? 25? 50? Some of the guys I went with on those 5-6 reentries didn't get a single grren in al the trips.

Or is it totally random?

Also on a side not I went in to Grenth's Footprint to use up some random miner keys to clear some storage space and got a Soulstone too. Not great, but a green with all henches is something.

Probably just random, I went to the "new" UW on the first day and after 2 runs had 1 of each of the new greens...yea it was crazy that day.

Hmm may be wrong but imo it will kick in soon. I was very similar dropwise to you, then the past 10+ runs I have gotten a few of the not so good greens, a few runs with nothing decent at all and not 1 ecto in any of those 10 runs.

When I started it I was getting excellent drops. One run alone I got 2 ecto, a not so good green, +30hp staff head salvaged, a 15 > 50 gold max stormbow ( nice eh? ) and a 3:1 axe vamp haft. No exageration, no BS - 1 run, best farm ever.

No quarrells its my own fault - I should go farm/play elsewhere for a while, but everytime I've logged on ive been like 'oooo, quite fancy another run' Imo once the guv'na shows his face and the drops lessen, go do something else for a while, then come back.

So I have to disagree with Lord because of my run history; im certain the drops degrade if you farm there constantly.

Just did my only run of the day and got an ecto early and then I got Vics maul, Koles torment and gauntlet, so a triple green. thats 13 greens in 10 finishes, I think.

New update now so we will see if that effects it any.

I got 2 Victo sets the first few days after the original update/Factions preview. Now, I don't really get anything, and it's so boring and not as profitable.

I am not really in it for profit, I like getting drops. Fun to watch stuff drop off soemthing you killed rather than out of a chest. I have even been buying rubies and saphires off the traders just to get below 1000 plat. Also even bought some ectos when they went to 7K, just in case ANET pulls a fast one and requires them for the new armor.

Hell I give half of the stuff away to people that need it, or so they say. I keep the stuff I will use and the super popular stuff, other thanthat I give it away. Although this last run I couldn't even give Koles Gauntlet away no one wanted it.

Right now it is the only thing in the game I haven't done a million times, although now I have done it plenty, but it is still fun, so I will keep doing it for awhile I guess. Besides I like beasting it with my ranger so it fits right in.

PvE Tombs can have up to 9 greens drop a run at the end. You are pretty much gauranteed a couple of green drops a run (unlike farming SF.) However only Victo's Blade, Victo's Axe, and Victo's Bulwark really sell.

Ya I guess, I haven't really tried selling anything yet, either I give it away or I am using it. Although A guy was spamming for a Victo's ax so I sold him theone I had for 36K, which seems like the going rate, plus it opened up a space in storage.

That is the funniest thing ever though. I guess the green market takes hits fast. But the staffs are pretty decent, and you habitually see 10/10 going for half a million easilly if they are gold, and 99% of the people out there will upgrade them with a +5 insight and a +30 wrap. Maybe the skins aren't that appealing, as they look like shadow staffs, who knows? But in terms of functionality they are second to none IMO. Plus you can customize them since resale value isn't really there. While you might think twice about customizing a perfect gold weapon you think you might someday be able to turnover for a big profit.

But IMO "farming" ToPK is a waste of time. Generally takes 45-an hour sometimes more, so it is a very long haul if you do not get anything. Even if you get a ax that is worth 35-40K, you could almost make that much farming the "normal" areas solo in that amount of time. So people doing it to make money are basically being anti productive. But that is another topic I guess.

Hmmm- I usually go as MM in B/P groups. Maybe 3-4 runs a week, nearly almost successful (finished with 6 the other night after two dropouts, including orders necro). I have noticed that my drops have gotten alot worse recently, after maybe 15 successful runs intermingled with doing other things.

Last 4 runs (all successful), my total take has been 1 ecto , Illyana's Mirror and Illyana's staff. I already had the staff and mirror, so that was a bit of a disappointment. And I have been shut out completely twice, which bugs me even though I know it is luck of the draw.

I keep going back because I just love the feeling of raising continuously- standing on the stairs in the fourth area, just raising and raising, watching the number of red dots decrease and the number of green triangles increase, while the little yellow negative numbers crowd the screen. Maybe I need help...

You must all be playing in Usa territory. Im original from europe and change a couple of times and i really see the difference in playing experinece of the players.

Let me just say that even with the most "simple" barrage team there is a 50% chance to get raped in the first room. There almost wasnt a time when we came inside UW and we didnt have a missing pet, rusher is a must in all european groups not to mention leavers.

So lets say i tried tombs like 20x and made it to the end like 5x - and im a fast learner !! i remember patrols,popups and stuff from a single round.

If i had choice to switch terriotory again ....man i would do it without thinking.

I've been extremely lucky in Tombs with my Ranger. I usually get at least one green on any given trip, but many times, I get two. I have been skunked a couple of times, but more often than not, I get something. And I've collected my fair share of ectos. Since Tombs was opened up to PvE, I've probably made close to 700k. A big chunk of that was Victo's Bulwark which I sold for 200k. I've been pretty happy with my runs.

I 've done the barrage groups because they're fast and it seems like when you get in a PuG, the players are more seasoned. When I've done it with my Ele or SS playing in so called "balanced groups," my trips have been less successful. More often than not, someone aggros too many monsters and game over. I've written off doing Tombs with anything other than my Ranger now.

The first week down there I got 3 bulwarks and just about one of every other green, usually getting 2 greens each run. I get an ecto down there about once every three times.

I have only seen the ogre knife drop down there once on any of my groups and not for me. I have about a full collection of all the new green except the knife and Wenslauss Chalice. Not going to bother buying them as people are still asking too much for the knife and figure I will get them eventually or be able to trade for something that I do pick up.

I have been pretty lucky though. Last night in an UW trip with a couple of guildies, 3 ectos dropped and all were for me. 1/5 my way to necro fissue!

I play tombs quite alot, and this not only for nice drops but I just love playing barrage groups, they are so darn fun...

I found everything at least once exept elswyth longbow (weird isn't it? ) and wenslauss chalice, hoping to get these to, full collection then

In my first 6 trips I got NOTHING. Not even a gold drop. Then in my next 3 trips I got 5 greens 2 of them were Victos Axe. I still havent gotten an ecto though. Then my next 2 after that we got leavers and failed. The second one because the last remaining alive player didnt bring a rez....And it was the orders necro... Not like he really needs all those skill slots.


I forgot to mention that after the 6th run I kept moaning about how I was getting nothing, and one guy gave me 2 greens. Koles Gauntlet and a mesmer one (forget which). They arent worth much but it was really nice and right after that is when I started getting my greens. And I'm keeping the ones he gave me, not selling them.

Same as above. Sort of the opposite of the "farming law". My first 7 runs yielded zero greens and 1 ecto, my last 2 yielded a green, 2 ectos, and a black dye.

The first four trips in I got three Victo's Blades. I have also picked up the hammer, the axe, the longbow, three necro off-hands, the ele off-hand, the monk staff and a bunch of golds and ecto. All in about 12 or so runs.

Ive gotten so mayn greens with henchies its not hard but good job on "luck" in the UW

Whatever you want to call it I guess. Tombs New UW, UW lite whatever.

So I guess it is pretty much a gold mine for everyone, at least in the forum.

I have tuime to do a couple runs tonight I wil update accordingly. I thought that after the inital ost I might jynx myself, but as posted my ony run of the day was a sweet one.

I have yet to get a monk drop so I expecet to get one of those soon. Not sure if they are any good or not, I am pretty set with my monk build, but some of the stuff I have seem drop is pretty nice stuff, even though others don't get it.

Obviously some is trash, since you can't have all super nice stuff, but for the most part the quality of the stuff is good, the skins leave something to be desired, but I am not a real vanity type guy. I will use a perfect collectors modded rather than spend hundreds of thousands for a staff that isn't as good. Plus I can customize a collector a lot quicker than a gold, even if I never plan t sell, there is always a chance.

Yeah, every run there pretty much everyone gets 1 green at the end. Sometimes someone might get 2-3 greens and someone might get none.

Tombs is like an item drop happy hour.

I've heard rumors, that the more you farm the lower your drop rate goes.

Ended up only making one run tonight. Nothing spectacular from monsters, but got another Victos axe. But as a group I think we had 4 or 5 ectos drop, one guy got 2, and another guy missed his (that happens a lot) someone spies it doesn't say anything and no one gets it because the timer runs out. So rather than tell the person they have a drop someone hangs back to "steal" it. Alls fair in love and war I guess, but when you are looking around for the MM and he is hanging back waiting for an ecto or a dye to become public it is alittle much.

its all in the luck but after a while the drops do go down. thats why i usually make 10 runs a day at most.
