...Without having to go to a store to pick up a physical copy of the game, ALA valve's Steam? Can I purchase a key directly from ANET which will let me play with a downloaded client?

hmm... doesn't say anything.

I know you can download the client though, just not sure if you can purchase keys directly with a credit card.
