I've been spending a lot of time lately trying to think up of a support character, but I am completely stumped. I tried playing hex heavy single target curses build, but I got owned by purge signet pretty hard. What I am looking for are a few general ideas what direction to take to make a support build that works well with variety of group types and is not:
- Domination shutdown mesmer
- Healing or Protection monk
- Damage Elementalist
Anyway once I put those 3 out of the game I have quite a bit of trouble devising a good support build. Anyone out there has any good idea?

Play with the Necro, he has a lot of goup spells in the Blood Line that aid allies and is probly one of the most versatile support classes in the game, being able to heal energy and health as needed.
Im wondering if you took monk as primary, and trained up devine healing, and then used a massive amount of sacriffice skills from the blood line to aid your party...it would heal you a tiny bit every time wouldnt it? or does devine healing not work with those skills?

I don't think necro blood has anything to offer for a versatile support character in gvg other than well of blood. BiP is too expensive now. OoV and OoP now work with physical damage only, making this a nice support skill, but only if you have a warrior or ranger heavy team. And I said right away I would like a support character that works reasonably well in most teams. OoV spammer is not what I want. Very energy and HP intensive and thus requires a perfect group build to match. Same for dark fury. And that is it for support as far as blood magic goes. Life steals work in arena and pve. They are just lame in GvG.

Well seams like all you really got left is the Illusion Mesmer for helping to weaken the tanks or a Ward Elementalist

There are other alternatives.
Smiter monk, problem: Scourge healing and judge's insight are the only skills worth taking. And I still have no idea how much damage judge's insight causes(it also works against barbs and weaken armor if someone on our team uses that).
Curses with dispersed hexing(rather than focused), problem: Faintheartedness and sof don't stack any more. Wither has that unfortunate 0 energy drawback and malaise is a quick trip to 6 feet under if you spam it. Generally takes too long for an effect at the pace of PvP in GW.
Death magic just sucks in GvG.
Perhaps mantra of persistence with conjured phantasm and other illusion hexes.

So, you're trying to make a caster shutdown without Domination? No wonder it's not working well...
Judge's Insight will give you at best 23% more damage, not counting damage boosts from bypassing +physical armor.
Necros make good support for Warriors or Rangers, so if I'd make a support Necro I'd do Curses, stack damage enhancers on the focus fired target and use Rend when needed. Basically fighter support.
